I was suppose to be goin ferreting with a freind this morning but he had to cancel as his daughter has been taken to hospital. i was out for a meal with the mrs last night and had a few drinks too many so i wasnt that bothered about goin but i woke bright and early this morn and decided it was far too nice a morn to waist so i thought i'll just take the young ferrets out get them a bit of expeirence ! I had no dog to mark holes,2 5 month old ferrets, 12 nets and a feckin stompin headache so off i goes to a railway bankin about 30 mins walk from where i live ! just about to cross the fence when the police stop and ask me what im doin i explain that i going onto the railway enbankment to control the rabbits....oh she replies have the railway asked you to this ? oh yes i control all the rabbits in this area replies me :whistle: anyway she bought it and off i went i got to the first bury i had in mind and it looked good all kicked out and plenty of fresh droppings i netted up all 5 holes entered my wee poley and sat back and listened........... sure enough that sound that never fails to get the old adrenelin pumpin and the haert racin .....rummmble....rummmmble and then bag out pops the bunny strait into the net with my wee poley right up its shitter so i pop the wee poley back in the box fix the net and enter my wee silver jill (her litter mate) about 15 minuits past and not a thing ...i'm startin to get quiet anxuos about another 10 mins pass and nothing so just as im about to start whistling on her not one but 3 rabbits bolt out of the same hole one in the net and two offsky but thats ok there there for another day and both my wee jills are doin the damage. i tried herback down again but the burrow was empty. great start wouldnt you agree ?? Now i had one other set i wanted to try its next to the Main warren in this area and has about 12 holes or so i thought....i netted up and enetered the poley alls quiet for about 10 minuits then i see rabbits bolting from the main warren wich is about 40 yrds away so run accross just in time to see the polecat goin back down a hole i lifted some of the nets i had down an netted the holes that looked as if the rabbits would bolt from but they were comin out in all directions i ended up with 12 rabbits but she must have bolted 20 pluss the rabbits must have dug a tunnel over the summer to connect these sets as they didnt connect last year anyway my hangover had well and truelly gone and i haeded home a happy man happy huntin Ricky Quote Link to post
