MY GREAT DAY OUT AT A FALCONRY WORK SHOP

Recommended Posts

Well after a lot of chats and discussions with my new found friends they let me come over to there falconry workshop and what an eye opener it was. These guys know there onions they make everything that any other falconry supplier makes but these guys make them from raw material nothing imported just raw.I was amazed by the sheer hard work these guys actually go threw. Just buying top quality leathers and steel, rubber, cloth is a handful.

I feel almost like a "Born again Falconer" after spending just 12hrs with these guys it was truly amazing to see just how much time and effort it actually takes to make top quality gear. From scratch swivels,Jesse's,bells,in and out door perches blocks, the list is endless and is all hand made or using a lathe and welder where needs be obviously.

I arrived early in the morning and was assigned chief tea maker sometimes they didn't even drink it cos they had orders to take care of I felt a bit in the way sometimes but they told me not Tobe silly and to just watch and observe and observe I did my friend got this ugly looking piece of steel and turned it into a spike there you go what you think he said after 30 Min's its a spike but what for I asked watch and learn shag watch and learn he then got some pole cut it up an then a weld here a weld there it was a stem he then got this circle bow perch and done some magic and assembled it into a outdoor perch spinning round.

He then showed me some examples of his stock bells swivels leash's Jesse's blocks all hand made in there workshop. It was an Aladdin's cave for falconers lol I was like a kiddy in a sweet shop he showed me his gloves lures rolls of leather casts for making bells patterns for making Jesse's he made I was like wow wow couldn't believe my eyes nothing imported and all made in the workshop he let me make a couple of Jesse's and all I done then was watch them tinker away making and discus there goodies it was wicked there where like Sat's workshop lol making all us toys but you should have seen the workmanship involved just for making our kit. I know there is guys out there that do this all the while long but to actually see this is a privilege in its self "The art of falconry" brings a new meaning to me now and will never forget these guys that actually do make the equipment that we see on our birds its a wonder they even get chance to fly there own array of birds let alone sitting down for a dodgy cuppa from me but seriously I can see now why when they say hand made British made why it costs just a little more top quality goods made by TOP QUALITY GUYS To be fair though after seeing them guys do there stuff I don't think I will barter again lol when round them game fairs cos I just seen on how much effort it takes to make a swivel oh well that was my day out and a great big thank you to the guys who invited me you rock dudes FALCONRY EQUIPMENT MADE FOR FALCONERS BY FALCONERS keeping it real. Thanks guys your all stars.

That must have been brilliant: people often don't realise just how much skill is needed to make the simplest of things: the experts make it look easy, but it isn't is it!

No mate was a plesure to watch them do what they do best it is lot of work involved and they have to be spot on no time for mistakes or blunders its not cost effective.
