Could be one of three things Moll, too much manure just before planting the seeds, stoney soil ,or heavy ground , it could also be a combination of all three. Hope that helps for next season .

I think youve nailed it :thumbs-up: ...i did manure prior to sowing. So do i NOT manure ever or should it be at a certain time prior?

I hate to see what the turnips are gonna turn out like :icon_eek:

Moll; Those carrots are f***ing scarey! Just what do you have in the water there? Mercury???

Hey; Isn't Sellafield south west of you?

:shok: Steves already rang and said no way he's eating any of them

Or do you think he might grow extra bits :D Ill slip some in his dinner :icon_redface:

Id have to agree with mr keeps molly, and it happens if they get disturbed as small plants, keep trying because theres nothing better than home grown veg

Well that would tie in aswell :good: cos as Millet said, the moles moved them around something terrible, ive got them growing in my lawn

We've already eaten all the peas, the spinach went to feed the hens and ducks and i decided i didnt like french beans after growing them  All theres left is the weird carrots, my tetties and the turnips for later on in the year.

:signthankspin:

To answer your question Moll, when you manure the soil , dont grow carrots in that soil for one whole season. Before sowing the carrots dig the soil well so it is quite fine, removing as many stones as you can, hope that helps you . Your turnips should be ok.
