9" brass and copper Hunting Horn. This horn was sent to me by the Huntsman of The York And Ainsty, North I think!! The story behind this horn is; about five years ago I was looking in an antique shop in Appleby, Cumberland when I came across a seemingly very old horn that had words scribed on it. The words said that it was prize for the best horn blower, I think it was dated 1971, I cant be sure! I baught it and thaught I best contact the hunt it came from in case they wanted it back. The huntsman I spoke to was very pleased to have it back, so I sent it off to him with a promise that he would send me a horn to replace it. Well I can hardly get a noise out of this one let alone a note. I need a 'reed' hunting horn if anyone can please help. This horn from The York And Ainsty in the picture is for sale for £30.00 or swap for a 'reed' horn of simular size. Thank you. I am in the Durham area. Tel 07502084551

Regards Warren

i suspect the horn you sent back was slight thinner and lighter than that. i also suspect it was a of good blowable quality. im affraid the one you got sent in replacement is more of a ornament than anything else, a nice one, but not suprising you couldnt get a note out of it.

still £30 is a fair price, the one you sent back was praobly more 100/150. i would forget a reed horn mate and look for a quality hunting horn.
