festa 206
If they get on fine at home there shouldn't be any problems out in the fields mate, Festa with yours being as young it will be easy as long as you keep an eye on the ferret, because if the ferret nips it now when the pup is older it will kill them ill give it ago tomorrow mate watch this space lol lol that wasnt as bad as i thought for their 1st meet 2 ferts and the pup sniffed each other and that was that if it goes like that ill be happy every time i feed the ferts im gonna take the pup in with me cheers for the advice lads atb gary Quote Link to post
robgriff1 4
introduced all my pups to ferts from 6 weeks old & they got on superb but now every single one of them will kill ferrets whenever they get a chance. killed 4 in the last year. can't let them anywhere near ferrets now. thats terriers mate! my lurchers are sound with them though Quote Link to post
undisputed 1,664
Is it broken to ferrets because if it isn't you will have to break it, i normally break my dogs to ferrets inbetween 6 - 8 weeks by letting the ferrets and pups run around together, then get them drinking milk out of a saucer together. When you take the terrier out let it mark a working rabbit sett and put the ferret in and let the terrier see the ferret working as it will help build up the bond between them. Good luck with your ferreting mate hmmm i was looking into this as well pup is 6 weeks now but theres always the worry the ferrets will have a go at the pup atb gary Wont do the pup any harm to have a healthy respect for the ferret....big hob will put a pup in its place Quote Link to post
