SportingShooter 0
A few things to clear up here. To be granted a Shotgun Certificate, you do not need any written permission or otherwise as proof that you need it. Nor do yo need to be a member of a clay shooting club. You do need to provide the FEO with a good reason, but if you tell him that you intend to shoot Game, Vermin, Rough Shooting, whatever it happens to be, then he has to accept that as a good reason. The likelihood of an FEO checking any permission is very, very slim as it is not required for an SGC. FAC? Yes you need a Good Reason and written permission or be a full member of a Target club. That may be the case in your area, but not in mine. Applications are checked with the landowner. Nowhere did I say that written permission is needed. That is the case in five police forces where I have either held certificates or helped with applications. Namely, South Wales, Dyfed-Powys, Gwent, Devon and Cornwall and West Mercia. Written Permission or Permission, whats the difference? Either way you either have permission or not. I can't see the reasoning behind your regions Licensing, seen as I could want a Shotgun for Game/Rough Shooting and shoot on 50 different shoots in a season. Seems to be another anomaly. SportingShooter 0
"I don't know what experience of Firearms Licensing you have Bob, but generally, the situation you describe is not the case, its far less complex and less stringent than that for an SGC." Probably more than yourself, you have mail. I'm not going to argue who has more years under the belt when it comes to holding different certificates. Quote Link to post
SEAN3513 7
surely the "police forces" have to follow the home office directive for licence applications ???? if they are going to make their own rules to the conditions of acceptence , this would possibly result in someone losing their licence, if they move from one area to an another ( different police force) and they had no "permission". for a SGC NO permission is needed......if you ONLY shoot clays, at 10 different clay grounds....do you need written permission of all 10....no !!!!!!!! oh.....funny how someones dad is allways bigger than yours...hey !!!! atb sean Quote Link to post
Deker 3,478
I have NEVER been a member of any Clay Shooting club and NEVER listed any shooting permissions on my SGC Grant or renewals. Quote Link to post
