Rolfe 2
I Spent a few minutes watching the combine going about it's work while letting the dogs have a mooch about the other day......when i heard the cheeping of pheasant poults in the strip about to be cut. Mad as it may seem. i did my best lost chick impression (the one that has lured many a fox to it's doom) and began cheeping at them. The combine was soon going to be upon them.........so i was amazed when these two little fella's came out of the wheat and headed towards me, saving themselves from a nasty end. Something similar worked yesterday when after setting a rat-trap in a food store i muttered "have some of that you fkr" as i left the trap in place. Well.......old Ratty must have been listening.........because low and behold......he Had Some. I called in to pick up the rat, before ferreting under a garden shed to remove 3 healthy bunnies..... borntoshoot 1
Poults make me laugh, , there great. yeah and me, i love the way partridges run in front of the kubota or pickup when going to top up feeders or drinkers when i help my local keeper, they run for about 20 yards then suddenly fly, we ran one over by accident coz it tripped right in front of us and we didnt notice and then splat. Tell me about it,, You will get fed up of seing poults when your pushing them back to the pen and dogging them in for most of the day from light to dark, could ring thier necks one by one by the start of the season.
