GPS dog tracking

Hi.

 

I hope this is in the right place. I've just bought something that arrived with me today that I thought would be of interest to some of you 'cus I know it's new to the UK. It's a GPS dog tracker. One of my dogs is a bit of a runner and I have nearly lost him a couple of times.

 

The kit is the Roameo gps, I chose this because it doen't need a connection to a phone network or text cost. I bought it from here http://www.innerwolf.co.uk/gbu0-prodshow/RoamEO_Dog_GPS.html

 

I haven't need to use it for real yet but me and a mate tested it earlier. He ran off for a couple of minutes and I then followed with the handset and tracked him down in less than 10 minutes, I was actually amazed by now will it worked. It is limited to a mile and half range whih I was a but unsure about but from this test it looks like as long as you are in persute it works well.

 

I'll keep you posted when I have to do you first 'live' test

i mite get one and slip it into the mrs's handbag when we go shopping. Seriously tho, £300 isnt cheap and only a mile and a half radius? Interested to hear other views on this.

It looks handy, especially if you hunt in woods, recall is great but only if you want to call them off what they're hunting. If they kill after a long run through thick cover and you cant find them and have to call them back then you've lost your quarry.
