Rabbithunter 456
Just been out with the lab and the lurcher pup for about 2.5 hours. Nice walk, except all the midges. Came to the top of the hill, and the lab nipped over to mark what i thought was a rabbit bury, turned out to be a fox set. The entrance was quite large and she managed to get in the hole with only her hind quarters sticking out, being the obedient dog she is i just gave her a call and she came out. (my lab stands about 20" to the shoulder at 6 years old - took us ages to find a small lab) Quite lucky the tunnel wasnt as wide all the way otherwise she would have been down it. And i didn't have a spade in the van, or indeed a collar around her (because i wasnt expecting her to go to ground) Carried on for a few hundred yards where i let her have a beat around a wood. I had the pup on the lead at this time incase anything should have came out, ground is still quite hard so didnt want to bugger the feet. I continued and met a herd of young beasts. I made quick my escape as Skye isnt stock broken yet, and i would prefer to do any training what so ever without another dog present. I crossed a beck and got to a ploughed field. I ran around the field which took about 10 minutes, and seemed like 10 hours. I was buggered, thought i was having a heart attack. :11: Got back onto the road and cut across a few more fields to get back to the van, through a field that the grass was upto my knees. And thats about it really I should really have taken my camera but i didn't as usual. Happy hunting Quote Link to post
