digging in germany/france

im looking to relocate to switzerland but as far as i know you cant work your terriers for fox or badger there but its not far to travell to germany or france to work my terriers,i dont want to give them up or stop them working, so any info would be very gratefully recieved.

Im told you need to have the correct licences (sp) in both countries. TO get the lisensces you need to sit tests. The women are better in Germany, along with the beer.

i don´t know the law of switzerland but austria is also not that far and i know the dig there !

thanks for your reply, i guessed there would be a test as i know that in belgium you have to,if you think the women are nice in germany,you should go to swiss,you will be impressed.lol.

just had a look at the web site,sadly i dont speak german as yet but i understood enough to work out that it was telling you the hunting seasons for each region,

you can sit the german and as far as i know the french hunting licence in english.

i have the german licence but did it in german.an advantage if you can.

the first test is shooting, shotgun 3 out of 10 skeet. rifle is 30 out of 50 points on a roe buck at 100 standing with a fixed pole.( some areas must also shoot pistol/revolver in the training)

when you pass these( truly not too difficult) a written test ( very diverse even though they have a catolog of multiple choice questions) where you must achieve at least 75%.

then a oral exam where you will be sat opposite an examination board of police,forestry,agriculture,eviromental,and weapon experts who are nominated.this is the tough part. they can ask you anything in their area of expertise( some can be very awkward).

the course to prepare costs around 600 euro and the tests another 150.you can just sit the tests if confident you know enough( terminology may be a problem as german hunters have a very traditional and obscure language of their own!!)

i hope you get some good sport, its certainly available over there.

 

you can if not a resident( permenantly) get a foreighners licence. not sure what this entails. maybe look on the internet under "auslaenderjagdschein"

fox, badger and raccoon( as with many other species) have seasons for the whole country,(fixed in the hunting law)but are changed by the counties.so each has different start and finnish.

you should be able to find some sort of ground work in Germany, i am also living over here, I have done the German Hunting licence so it is ok and I can carry a gun when the crazy people come here with the little BLACK ONE's. what I would advice is to look under HEGERING in the area that you are hoping to hunt in this is my site over here that I made with a lot of help.

if you find a Hegering then you are looking for the Hegeringleiter that is the boss or the Hunde obmann who would be the person in charge of most of the dog work and ask them if they need help with earth work.

 

on the other side I wouldent want to get you hopes up too high the Germans don't like other people in their hunts, unless they know them and poaching over here is dealt with servierly. unless you have got someone who will vouch for you there is not much of a chance.

Before taking your dogs please check about the docking ban in Switzerland! As to my knowledge docked dogs are not allowed to be taken to the country. But I'm not sure about it, maybe it is only for swiss citizens.
