Guest Scuba1
i just thought, Ill get this of my chest. There are quite a number of people that ask me questions about this and that via PM because they don't want to ask on the open forum, in case they get flak of some of the members on here. So I answer those questions as good as I can, but keep it to the PM side of things. I am not going to encourage those people to and tell them " Go on , stick it on the forum " because they don't feel comfortable with it and neither am I going to make my answers public as I think its a bit of a trust thing towards them, but I think that it is a shame, that it has come to this at all, as not only is there a lot of information getting past on behind the scenes as it where, that could help others, that may have a similar problem, but also knowing, that people feel so intimidated but others on here that they don't want to ask " stupid " questions and no matter how often I tell them, that there is no such thing as a stupid question, only stupid answers, it does not seem to help them get over it and ask here on the open forum. I think, that I am not alone with this and that others are doing their bit via PM to help others but I still think its a shame that it has to be like this. Some others have sent me PM's telling me, that they are going for a while and come back when things are better on here. That IMHO is not an option, because then we are going to be left with the shit on here and no matter how much SS is going to sift through it, he is still going to be left with shit and then we could just close down this section all together and say it was nice while it lasted but RIP. At the end of the day, its the people and nothing else that make a forum what it is. All that I could suggest is, Before you press that "SEND" button of your post, have a read through it and ask yourself, " Would I say this if the people were sitting at the same table with me now?" If your answer is not, hit DELETE and have another go at it. Just my humble opinion and make of it what you will. At the end of the day its just a bit of food for thought. Grim Reaper 1
I could not agree more with you Michael. I too have had many PM me about this and that, and like you say, it is a pity that the info we give to the individual gets passed on 'behind the scenes' . . . . . . and thereby, at no benefit to others. But that has now become the way of it - the nature of the beast, if you prefer? Oh well. Regards, Grim. Quote Link to post
SEAN3513 7
same here fella's......sad really, ALWAYS happy to help anybody whenever i can as i will need their help one day. do as you expect to be done by !!!!! so i also encourage people to post, regardless of the question, we all had to start somewhere !!!............and as michael has pointed out........READ it through before you post..........its easy to hide behind your keyboard and tell everybody how big and hard you are but its not helpfull and probably wouldn't be said over the table in a face to face situation. the whole point imo is to share and learn on this forum. atb sean Quote Link to post
Guest Scuba1
Then there is another thing going on that may not be obvious to the newish people on here. When the ones that have been here for a bit longer get into something that must look to the newer members like an argument, there is a heck of a lot of tongue in cheek stuff going on and some not so obvious banter. So when I get into something like that with the likes of davey63 or stealthy1 and some others, its not meant the way it may seem to come across to the not yet insiders. To all those, have a look at the join date and number of posts and that is usually a good indicator of what's going. We are just having a bit of fun and banter and that has to be as well or we would go sane. ATB Michael Ohhh and I was going to make this a poll but the only asnwer options we seem to ave left now did not match my post Edited July 26, 2009 by Scuba1 Quote Link to post
iguanaman2442 0
I completly agree lads but im almost sure some people are only here to cause trouble and 'pick' on other people who are just starting out.Dont get me wrong there are some great lads on here like your selfs willing to help no matter what the question and we all appriciate this. Well i know i sure do as i think all of you have helped me at some point. Its just a shame that there are so many trouble makers on here SS does a great job 'there is only so much 1 man can do'. Lets just hope the twats get the message and go jump. Iguanaman Quote Link to post
iguanaman2442 0
Scuba1. Mate most people with a little common sense can tell when you lot are having a bit of banter and find it quite funny. I sure do. Quote Link to post
Guest Scuba1
iguanaman2442, the danger that we are facing at the moment is, that the good ones are ( and some have ) taking the jump first, because they can't be arsed to wade through the pissing contests and slagging matches that go on in here. SNAP SHOT 194
Lads it's not just the airgun section that the behind the scenes info is being asked on..... i do get quite a bit of pm's for members looking for info, on centrefire issues..... i try my best to ansewer them all, i'm sure the same can be said in the dog's sections..... if you cannot help with a problem, reply with crap, then your only a part of the problem, as you have no info to share yourself... We all don't know everything...... it's what we can learn from each other that will make us better at what we do.... SNAP. Quote Link to post
why jelly 0
Altho just joined this site, I have been trawling through loads of threads in the different sections not only this one and what I had been told about THL is actually true, that it is one of the most unfriendly sites for new members. So it is no surprise that behind the scenes is the best place to be for some members who don't feel they could handle the snide stuff. Whether I stay here will have to be a decision to make when I get nowhere or when I'm thrown off for giving it back to the keyboard warriors who hang out here. Yes there is quite a core of numpty's in this section, could be worse though, could have a bull type hound Quote Link to post

ATB Michael To right mate its all sections on here mate but i have noticed that quite a lot of it is the same people in different sections mate seems to be the thing to do for some people. Yes it does seem to bee the good 1s that are jumping first and thats a shame as a sport we should all be sticking together and fighting the various bans among other things but some people just seem intenet on ruining it for everybody. Lets just hope the good ones stay and push out the rubbish. We can hope Quote Link to post
jenksi87 3
good valid point. i hold back on a lot of questions i have due to this fact. i would add though that out of all the sections i look at the airgunning seems to be one of the better, whereass earthdog section seems to be full of people after an argument???????? Guest Scuba1
I mean, to be honest, sometimes when I get on here and the pointed or domed question or one like that is asked for the 84673th time I am thinking "WHY" oh "WHY" don't peeps look into the FAQ bloody section or have a quick look in the archives insted of posting those dead horses again and again and then I just log off. Other time I answer but it depends on the day and how I feel. But I sometimes think that some people are just to lazy to look and want everything on a plate for them without putting anything back in other then rantings and ravings. Is it just me or do others feel that way as well sometimes. ATB Michael Quote Link to post
RaiderBoy 19
I dont know if i would be considered one of those people who just talk dribble but i try to help as much as i can because when i first joined this site i had a few topics that knowone would answer, and also many of these people who start off arguements dont even know there doing it just tell them what there doing wrong and if they keep doing it delete them altogether aarons been named a few times about shooting with no sights and learnt his lesson in the end, so scuba, SS, shaun3513, grim reaper it up to the good members like you to tell them what their doing wrong. Guest Scuba1
Its not all about just posting information think. If anyone wants just information, buy a bloody book about air rifles and a exploded view of the thing and sorted. Its also about having a bit of fun in here, because lets face it, live is serious enough as it is, without people that are sharing the same interest stepping on each others toes. Maybe I am totally on the wrong track here and this is how it is supposed to be in this day and age here. If that is the case, I look even more forward to the time that I can leave the UK again.
