breffni 3
Good job lad How did you come across the plans to make it? I LOVE these home brew topics!!!!!!!!
chimp 299
plans ? lol i dont do plans , the timber was laying in my father inlaws garden all cut that size so i just bodged it all together , it was him who told me to put the ratchet strap round it with the small bit of wood on top as there is going to be a lot of pressure. if i come across some hardwood i will make another but with some threaded bar going thru the top. just need a fruit stratter now , thinking of getting a garden shredder as that will pulp apples a treat
digit 0
I made a cider press last year works great.Instead of using threaded bar you could use a jocky wheel off an old trailer.

why jelly 0
Do you have a problem keeping hardwood tight as my experience , limited i must add, it just pulls fixings to bits.
breffni 3
Out with the chain saw tomorrow me thinks!! Do you need to shread the apples or are you just being perticular? Jockey wheel sounds good! Im learning lots on here, sloe gin first and now this!! Im getting low on the plum poitin, its a bit too sweet this year you dont find yourself getting thru half the bottle which is not good the next day! chimp 299
im going to use dovetail joints and coach bolts on the hardwoord one as for the apples , you just need to extract as much juice as possable , shredder seems the ideal way of doing it but mean you would have use one just for apples as you wouldnt want tree flavoured juice. im looking at stratters on the net at the moment but they just look messy and throw bits of apple all over the place
