BellySlater 15
I have the opportunity to go on shoot with a friend, I don't have my own permission so the deal is I lend him a rifle and he takes me. I thought i'd head up to Kibworth range to check the zero-ing and check out my old faithfull HW57 .22 Also took along the HW100 for the hell of it. Set the target up at 15 yards and zeroed, moved to 25 and did the same.....pushed out to 35 yards and was putting a 1cm. group of 5-6 pellets every time . I'd really forgotten how good this rifle is, yes its loud and kicks back like Joey Barton but a real treat to shoot. Im pretty sure it's improving my all round shooting and target skills as well. (had a "quick" go with the HW100 and as always it can castrate a gnat at 45yards-- easy ) Anway...question time. The guy in the shop put the HW57 through the chrono and it flagged up 10.8. is this enough power for fur and feather at the 30 yard mark. I have a dvd borrowed from Buster advising of the penetration test using a bar of soap anyone ever used this ? Has anyone ever replaced a spring on a HW57 and what power would this give ? Am I the only one with a HW57 ? Cheers guys.... Edited July 24, 2009 by BellySlater Quote Link to post

Depending on the age of your HW57 the power output will differ early models pre VCR act were factory set @ 11.05 ftlbs, post VCR 10.08, easy to put power up on the 57 by increasing the spring compession via shims or uprate to Titan main spring, should get her upto the 11.20s, ample for fur & feather at your skill level. Big bald beautiful 1,231
powers fine, nice gun. did you have any problems with the pop up breech? Quote Link to post
BellySlater 15
No major problems with the breech, although depending on the make of pellet it can shave a few mill. off the skirt. Using accu pell and these seem to be fine. Thanks for the reply Quote Link to post
