Onan 6
Bored yesterday so collected a load of plums after seeing a recipe on the net.Very easy to make and not much different to my shop bought jam(cheapo, mixed fruit jam).. Put 2 plates in the fridge(all will become clear later ) washed and scored the plums, the green ones have more pectin in,so help set it better. bit of water, not an exact recipe this, just put in as much as felt right, bring to boil and simmer, put in 1/3 of a bag of sugar boiled them up for a bit and got the potato masher out to help them along, boiled them for about 20 mins, taste and if needed put in more sugar(next time i will be boiling at this stage for longer) sieved out the seeds and skins...i don't like bits in my jam then put it all back onto boil again, all the recipes say a rolling boil.Just got it to boil for ages, keep yor eye on it as it boils over very easy.Taste and add more sugar if needed, keep boiling and stirring after a while20 mins+ get your plate out of the fridge and drop some onto it,leave it for 2 mins and run your finger through it,if it creases and has a skin on it then it's ready,if not keep boiling/simmering and stirring testing every 5 mins or so untill set...put it in your jars ...jars need to be sterilised, all you do is wash and put in hot oven for 15 mins. I didn't have any jars but put it into this dish, you get a fair amount and is sweet and tarty, had it this morning on my crumpets and very nice it was. Got to get myself some jars and thats me set for jam for a year can't wait for the blackberries to come out.. Hope this helps someone,it is so easy to do,honest
