gollum 1
I bought an S410 a while back and am due to send it off for the recommended annual factory checks. I assume these checks are essential to check your not in danger of being killed by the gun exploding.... and so am relatively happy to send it off. That said I havent checked up on the cost of doing so yet... Do other owners send there pre charged guns back on a regular basis? Be interested to know what others experience with this has been, costs, etc. HH all. G. Quote Link to post
paulxpalir 0
hi here are a few points for you to think about is it anti tamper?? if is isnt and you send it back to air arms they will put AT on it! the service kit (seals and bushes) are relitivly cheap (£10-£15) there are verious guides as to the serviceing youre AAs410 yourself i had my first service done in front of me and now i do all my own mainenence. i think air arms charge about £70 plus p&p for service they will also reset the power to between 10.5-11pound so the choice is youres. let me know if you want me to post the links to self service Quote Link to post
half n' half 8
if it ain't broke don't fix it is my motto with pcp's. if the gun is shooting as it should then why mess with it. the only reason a gun could 'explode' is failure of the air cylinder wall which takes many years to happen under normal use. i would imagine the gun will 'need' numerous services because of failed seals before this problem would ever arise. then again i'm sure the manufacturers would disagree with this, but then again they'll be getting around another £100 of your hard earned every time you get it serviced. SEAN3513 7
agree with half'n'half save your cash diy servicing is the best way as you get to know your gun inside and out cheers sean Quote Link to post
gollum 1
Thanks, I did wonder about the DIY approach.... If you could put up those links, it would be appreciated. Any special tools needed? Cheers. G. Quote Link to post
RustyG 0
i have an s410, i take it to my local gun shop for a service every few years, it costs £70 he changes all the seals etc and chronos it for 11.5. last time he put the new charging valve on it, but he didnt give me an adaptor so i had to shell out a score for that DIY servicing is ok for seals n that, but i would recomend gettin the air tube tested every few years or so Quote Link to post
Guest Scuba1
Disclaimer: I am not really writing this down and hence you can't read it, thus there is no advice given in this post whatsoever. Considering, that we use dried air out of a air cylinder, that has been filled with filtered and dried air, the amount of corrosion in the gun cylinders is near as none existent. So I would not bother that much about getting it checked in the intervals stated on the manual. But that's just me and remember the disclaimer. As I have not been working and around diving cylinders and compressors for the best part of 30 years and have no clue about steel and aluminium pressure vessels whatsoever. ATB Michael I charge from a pump that i dont think has a moisture filter, does this mean it is more likely to corode the air tube? Not that i am askin for advice of course because you know absolutly nothin about the subject in hand Edited July 13, 2009 by RustyG Quote Link to post
clubshot 22
Gollum, No location As might have had better suggestion I have had precharge Air Gun's from the start - many years Never sent back one of annual Servicing In the words of Mike Childs - Skan - My first precharge - Skan Swif in .25 If not broke why play........... Great danger of Sending Air Gun's to Air Arms - as they seem to not only service but Re-adjust power on returned Air Gun's - downwards Unless they are loosing or going off - which does not often happen There are several known Shooters that will Service Air Gun's We even had one come to Lea Valley for a Competition - and did a total strip / Service for another Member My AA400 in 22 - must be near ten years old and fired many thousands - Only been adjusted once Shoots a dream with Defiant 14.00's 5.50's - and Stops most Vermin it hit's BOB/R Quote Link to post
