kennyboy 1
Something on NHS webby I have found disturbing: http://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Pandemic-flu/....aspx?WT.srch=1 Part of interest is: High-Risk groups patients who have had drug treatment for asthma within the past three years. The question that comes to mind is. What the f**k have asthmatics been inhaling for the past 3 years? As an Asthmatic myself the only thing I can think of is they have changed the propellant in the inhailers. I find these smaller/alcohol tasting (Salamol CFC-free) inhailers are ineffective. These last half as long as a Salbutamol inhaler. Personaly, I don't give a f**k about the ozone layer if I CAN'T BREATHE!! There are more cattle on the Planet that release greenhouse gasses (methane) than there are children/adults gasping for breath. I have always tried to get the the larger Salbutamol inhaler but these have become harder to get in the last 3 years. The only place that I can get them is Gordons Chemists here in Northern Ireland. So if you, your child or any you care for are asthmatic refuse these eco-friendly gimmicks and demand a tried and trusted med that works.

ferreterni 29
My wife is badly asthmatic and on the ventolin (big blue) inhaler and seretide. Every so often the doctor or the chemist just decides she is getting the we blue crappy (salbutamol) cfc free. She says same thing, no good and tastes like cheap vodka. have to complain at chemists or get quack appointment to get it changed. We are in northern ireland too, and the chemists in maghera do stock them (ventolin) it's alliance pharmacy. Always make sure she is on the good ones, CHEAP ones nearly always land a hospital visit, or emergency doc.
sandymere 8,263
Lordy it's nothing to do with the inhalers them selves rather that anyone who has had treatment in the last 3 years, such as inhalers, is considered a risk of underlying lung condition, such as asthma, and as such is at greater risk if getting flu. If you have been symptom free without medication for 3 years you are less likely to have a current underlying lung condition so should be the same risk as the average person. Unless of cause you have some other lurgy.

It's got nothing to do with inhalers, but IT DOES have something to do with inhalers? Asthma is not a part-time thing. You either have it or you don't!
