Malt 379
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/8127743.stm It appears that they're looking to close down two of our three remaining naval shipyards. There's not much great about Britain these days, we are no longer in a position to rely on ourselves for anything these days. In years to come, the words 'Made in Britain' will be even more meaningless than they are today. Maybe it's just me, but we used to have an industry that was envied the world over, we used to lead the world when it came to engineering/technological innovation. These days the bean counters tell us that everything is too expensive, better leave it to someone else to invent. In years gone by, great minds of this country were given incentives and backing to carry out their work, which was in turn admired and respected in all 4 corners of the earth. People like Isambard Kingdom Brunel, Thomas Telford, and even great minds from the 20th century like Sir Frank Whittle must be turning in their graves at the way things are these days. Good job people like todays politicians weren't around from the dawn of time, we'd probably still be living in caves, due to fire being a health and safety risk, and things like the wheel being too expensive to invent!
