Guest Scuba1
So I have read a bit more and stumbled over a few things written by B. Bryson and remember this bit about the planet getting a wobbly and the moon going further away from us. I thought the Monn was created when an Asteroid (or someting) hit us and knocked a great chunk out of us. Apparently there is another one (at least) waiting to bash into us again any time 'soon', and we'll be creamed when it happens and we wont see it until its too late, a comforting thought for today. The Moon is made up of the same stuff as our surface i.e. it has little or no Iron, so it didnt come from our core. And yes its supposed to be moving away etc. Incidentally there is a mention in his book that the 'Moon' is in fact a 'planet', certainly in size compared to say Pluto or Uranus, so that makes us unusual in that we are a bi-planet and our sun is unusual in that it isnt a twin-star, twin-stars being in the majority. Now get this, Pluto's no longer a planet Click here Uranus, however, is a gas giant and is considerably larger than the moon! Bloody Bryson, eh. Shit vacuum cleaners and he can't even get his facts right So to stop our planet to get into such a wobble, that we all fall of it or whatever happens, we will have to build some pyramids to counterbalance it then. We're all buggered now... they'll run out of money, it'll get refused planning permission and have to go to inquiry, someone will object to the limestone colour and the whole thing will get shelved when they find newts next door... Well I'll do pretty much anything to take the boredom out of the job of sticking those 60 glass panes in that stupid shed in the garden. ATB Michael

ATB Michael You have more patients than me mate, because I think I'd rather plink the panes instead, but I admire your persistance.
