kristian 9
I have a HP Compaq 6720s laptop and my antivirus subscription ran out last week. When my boy had finished on it and shut it down i could not get it back on? Now when it comes on it says "launch start up repair" or "start windows normally" when i go to start up repair it says "windows is loading files" then after a few minutes a screen comes up saying system recovery options then in the box it says select a languge and select keyboard layout. so i then click to change it to uk then i click next and it says load drivers? if i click next theres a series of options: start up repair, system restore, windows complete pc restore, memory diagnostic tool or command promt! ive tried first 2 others dont seem to do anything? on start up i've tried f11,f12 and nothing really working? please help as i'm on my missus laptop at the mo and it's so slow it does my head in lol. Please help!!!!!!!!!
Guest jt750
Try going into system restore and restore to an earlier point . If this doesn't work then likelyhood is that a virus/spyware has got into your system and hidden itself in the system restore folder, This is a popular place for viruses and spyware to hide because the operating system won't allow most programs to access this folder for scanning because system restore is your first point of call when anything is wrong. If this doesn't work then you either need your back up discs or operating system discs you got with your computer to either re install windows or restore it to its factory settings. Saying this laptops can be fickle as in they overheat very quickly which doesn't help. Not sure about saving your data tho ...if you need this doing you'll need professional help Edited June 13, 2009 by jt750

Back up all personal files. 2. Restart the computer, and then press f11 before the Windows operating system loads. 3. Click a recovery option, and then click Next. 4.
