The future is a decoy...

Recommended Posts

After watching the DVD lent to me by Buster (cheers again) I invested in a decoy magpie from ebay (£3.99). Now I only have a small garden so I have to nail these little suckers where they stand, over the past month i've probably had about four or five but they have now become very wary of my traps. :hmm:

I have been using a ripped open bin bag with some strategic placings of bacon and it's been O.K. so far.

Yesterday I did the same and added my new plastic friend (no jokes please :whistling: ). After ten minutes there was a line of 6 of the little sh**s on the garage roof waiting to investigate. As soon as the first one landed he got it right in the sweet spot...this sent the others into some sort of frenzy. Before I knew it I had Crows and Jackdaws perching in the trees along with even more magpies making a proper racket, these guys really stick together. Five magpies and one crow came down to the decoy / dead birds one after another only to meet the same fate. The lawn looked like St James' park after half an hour - black and white everywhere. :gunsmilie:

I would certainly recommend a decoy magpie to anyone..at home or in the field. Just need a Kate Humble decoy know!!! 8)8)
