Sterry 0
Went out yesterday afternoon, to pay a visit to my trout fishery, and as a time filler i decided to set out a few snare. i set out 6 snares (with instruction from holdaway and a few other members on here) i also took one of the .410s, just incase of a fox in one or a rabbit that i couldnt refuse. So... after the fish ( i caught 2x 4lb trout ) we decided to check the snares, not a great start...first one had a very lively half grown fox cub, which i wasnt going to shoot, so i walked up the snare wire then scruffed it (not advisable) and pulled the snare off, it was completly unharmed...and more to the point so was i. the next three were blanks but the two after one was pulled but not rabbit, the last one had a wabbit in it which was all but dead so knecked him. walkin back saw a young rabbit sitting pretty at about 20yrds...ish and the 3" magnums sorted him out with a bit of a chase, when i caught him the pattern covered the side of its head with strikes in it ears, chest face and front leg so right on it and about the pattern of 4-5" ...i really dont rate no.6 shot, im going to see i can get some in no.5 or no.4 as they used to do the bussiness. So a good day on fur and fin. thanks to all those who pointed me in the right direction, and all those who slate this site i think that the sort of help i received goes largely unnoticed. whippeter69 88
Nice one mate well done, good for you letting that fox cub go, a true country man I use the 7.5 thought my 20 Bore on lamping, went out the other nigh and knocked a sitting rabbit over at 45 yards then shot another running at 40 yards, mind you it was thought a full choke haha Edited June 1, 2009 by whippeter69 Quote Link to post
Sterry 0
Cheers mate. i only use the .410 because otherwise i wouldnt use such a lovely handling lil gun, when i was little i always used 4s or 5s for rabbits and had a few under my belt despite my not so clever aim. Quote Link to post
