Lamping problem solved!

Recommended Posts

Hi, fellas.

I put a post up a while back asking for help with my re-zeroing hassle taking a lamp on and off my HW90. I knew I'd never solve the problem with gun mounted lamps, so was looking for alternatives to the not too bright head torch I'd been useing.

After trying a piston mounted light and glass pellets to no avail (JOKE! Thanks Suba), I looked on the interwank for a suitably good light and ended up getting an LED Lenser H7 head torch with a Cree (as recomended, thanks) 140 Lumen bulb form TheTorchSite.co.uk.

Top bit of kit! Small, light and throws a beem to a good 100 yards or so.

Thanks for all your help and advice, chaps.

Cheers.

Andy. :)

Well you see we are working on glass pellets with just the right shape to focus the light to a .22 diameter beam. As a bonus they are going to be kind of dome shaped. You will be sorry that you did not stick to the cylinder internal light.

Happy hunting Andy

It wasn't the glass pellets that caused the problem, Scuba. They worked fine after I'd diamond plated the barrel to stop premature wear of the rifleing.

It was the bulbs on the piston that kept breaking. I got a little bit fed up having to strip the gun to replace a bulb after each shot, I'm sure you can understand that in the field, at night, this is less than ideal. I even tried putting some jelly babies in the cylinder to absorb some of the shock but no joy....

I think it would be a good system for a PCP but as they don't have a piston, maybe we'll need to develop a PCP/spring gun hybrid to take full advantage of our new technology.

Just a thought.....

Cheers.

ermmm... seriously avoid looking into it, even in the day lolol...

Thanks, Ghillies.

I'd never even heard of Cree bulbs 'til you mentioned them. I'm a little out of touch!

Cracking bit of technology, I can't believe something so small can put out so much light.

Cheers, mate. :clapper:

Edit to say: Many thanks for all the info and details in your reply, Ghillies. You really went the extra mile!
