beagle1812 0
Hi All, I have the oportunity to go Stag stalking/shooting in Scotland next month. I live in South England and wanted to know if its possible to transfer the deer home (thats if the trip goes well!). As always I appreciate any feedback. Quote Link to post
flytie 1
Beagle, On my couple of trips north of the border I have brought some venison back home, a haunch and some fillet each time. I have never thought of bringing back the whole carcass. Surely you would need a chiller van to bring back a whole one? I have been told that some estates will butcher, vacuum pack your beast and courier it to you but have no experience of this personally. If you take a couple of big cold boxes you would get a dressed roe in them easily. I certainly can get a red hind haunch and some dice or fillet (if I'm lucky) in mine with plenty of room for cold packs to go round it. It has taken me at least 10 hours to get back home and the venison was fine. As yet I have never encountered any "Border Patrols" I do not think it is illegal to bring it over the border Atb, ft Quote Link to post
kingkeeper21 2
if you where going to bring the whole thing home then id leave it in the skin and drive back it should be ok as long as your car isnt coated in shit it should be ok i wouldnt skin it a cover it because if it is hot when you drive back it might make the meat sweat.
