Recommended Posts

basically i want an air rifle for killing the mags at my chicken pin . i have priced around my local shops and because i am in ireland the average fps i was looking at was 18-20 so for my budget i saw a cometa somthing or other synthetic break barrel silencer and scope aswell @ 18fps for €385 and in a different shop i saw a gamo cfx royal silencer no scope @ €275 basically i will be probably settling for one of these two but just do not know which one.which one would ye have and why? .this would help me greatly, thanks in advance.

That thing on th end of the Gamo is not a silencer. It holds the clip for the under leaver and the front sight and has no other purpose. You will not be able to fit one to it either without some serious tinkering. I used to have one in Spain and it did pack a fair punch but it is rather noisy and has a kick to it as well. I got used to it and liked it for bunny bashing as i used the wabbits as snake food I did not want to have any pellet left in them because of the lead and it was perfect in that respect.

here is a picture of the beast it was running at 23ft/lbs

thanks for the help but could you tell me what is the longevity of the rifle is like and the accuracy cheers

I have only had mine for 3 years so cant comment on the lifespan of them but in those years with almost daily use in pest control it never missed a beat. Once you get used to the kick, it is a fairly accurate rifle as well. Even though if you are using it for knocking magies out of trees. feed it with hollow points and then it does not matter where you hit them as they will be gutted by the time they hit the ground.
