the problem with NZ reds are that all the big ones you hunt with guides are either behind wire or bred behind wire. In a few areas there are genuinely free range deer that has stolen those genetics and gone wild but for the most part fair dinkum wild nz reds can be pretty average. I thought the Euro reds were meant to be huge anyways aren't they?

G'day all, I'm 22 and have hunted my whole life here in Australia. Chase a bit of everything but mostly reds and fallow and a bit of sambar hunting. Chase foxes and hares in the summer with gun, bow and dogs. Get a bit of fishing and yabbying in as well when I can. Try to get over to NZ once a year to hunt as well. Hunt with rifle, bow and in a couple of months muzzleloader. Keen to meet some like minded people and chat about all things hunting. would love to get over and hunt a roe and a muntjac or a chinese water deer one day. Happy hunting, ​JP
