fair enough but i would of thought one or the other would have been good enough if a few decoys were spread around it as well. I've found a very good owl decoy for a cheap price and the owls head moves in the wind. Owl decoy <-- Link to it for anyone interested
-
when you set your decoys up use a dryed fox skin fold it round abit of 6in pipe by the time they see it is not real should be dead in the air .or lay the skin on the ground set your decoys round it with a pecker or 2 pecking at the skin this works well they think there feeding on a dead fox
Good advice, cheers mate

Haha Very good idea! I was just looking at owl decoys now but a cat never crossed my mind. One question though, why both?

It's got to that time when I need to buy some more cartridges, i was just interested to see what everyone's suggestions were for an economical cartridge for walking around doing some rough shooting (not "game", just vermin). I've been using Hull superfast but i'm up for a change. I would like to try some of "Proper cartridges" cartridges but where i am it's very hard to get hold of them...
I know this will cause a lot of discussion but you don't learn by not asking questions...
Cheers - Max

Logic. Shoot a mother and keep it in the freezer till you want to use it.Simpl ain't it LOL
2 problems with that; 1. A fox isn't going in my freezer 2. I've already shot all the foxes on my land so i won't be able to get my hands on one
-
By the way, i got the idea when i saw one for sale as a decoy (that was plastic) in countrywide but i didn't dance paying there price either...
-
Cheers for the help everyone! But after doing some research I've been advised not to get a resin one as they're "very fragile". The One, i like your idea but i think if i can get my hands on a life size fox it will be much better. So... anyone got any more ideas?

Hi there, I've been looking for a plastic fox decoy to use when crow shooting but so far i haven't been able to find one. Just wondered if anyone new where i could get my hands on one for a reasonable price within England? Cheer - Max

Im going to go for a 97, just fallen in love with it really. Just need to sell some of my guns and bits and pieces and aquire some funds now.

What do you want from the rifle small and lightweight or heavy ?
I prefer heavy rifles so give me a 97 any day. Imp is too small and light for me im not a huge fan.
The un-tuned 97 might twang and recoil a bit more but it WILL be every bit as accurate as any Imp .. it may be harder to get good results from it if its a rough firing cycle.. but you have the options of either 'tuning' it yourself with a kit or even with its original internals a polish and re-grease will see it shooting very nice.. get a properly fitting spring, guide, tophat and piston sleeve and it will be a cracking gun. And polish the trigger and it will be better to shoot from out of the box.
Or you could send it off to sfs ore dave hall or some other 'professional tuner' and let them do the work instead lol.
My 'home tuned' 97k with half a vmach kit and half factory internals shoots spot on and it was easy to do. And you dont have to wait ages to send it off and get it back. Takes a couple of hours and a bit of elbow grease lol.
For me my oppinion is get the 97 and see how it shoots first then make a decision if you want it tuning at extra cost.

That's very useful, thanks. Also thanks to everyone, all knowledge is accepted here. Lol

Thanks both of you I must say, even before i posted this question i was leaning towards a 97 over the Imp. Just wanted to see what other peoples opinions were.

Stuck between a un-tuned HW97 kt Silverline and a SFS Imp. I prefer under-leavers because they seem more fixed and sturdy, but the Imp is SO ACCURATE from what Si Pittaway has shown. Help please
-
I am stuck between a HW97kt Silverline, untuned and a SFS Imp. I love under-leavers, they seem like the barrel is more fixed and supported but Imp is so accurate!
-
The scope is blurry because of the parallax, if buying one that you don't want to do that get an adjustable parallax scope. Sometimes labeled as AO scopes. Webley raiders are looking good for a pcp. In my view though, you should do what Si Pittaway did and get a SFS Imp, it's just as accurate as a pcp but you don't need the air bottle. Have a look, you might be surprised!

Been out of air guns for a few years. Last one I had was a rapid 7 in 2.2. What do you hunting people reckon is the best calibre for hunting. Also what do you consider a good hunting gun that is not to heavy, probably pre charged. Might get myself another but just doing a bit of research before I decide.
I personally prefer the .22 for knock-down-power. Any Daystate, BSA, Weihrauch, or brocock are good hunting rifles. I have a Daystate Air ranger and BSA Scorpion SE both .22 and i think there brilliant, both blisteringly accurate. BSA Scorpion SE or BSA Ultra SE are good, lightweight, hunting rifles. Try them out and see what you think...

Havent read any of the previous comments so Maybe repeating what someone else said but if your on Facebook have a look on the airgun for sale sites. I recently seen a daystate Huntsman and all kit for sale £800

I finished a walnut catapult with it today, first time using it, it brings the grain out lovely and leaves a good hard wearing finish as well, apply as many coats until desired finish is achieved, just rub lightly with fine wire wool between coats, this was after a couple of coats, will buff it tomorow when I finish coating it
This might sound strange but i have been wondering for a while, what does the term "Buff" mean? Should i do that to my gun?
-
ok, thanks
-
Went to gun shop and now no the answer but thanks for looking anyway

Whats the best thing to put on a Daystate Air Ranger stock, only asking because i got the stock wet today and it left marks on the stock. However i got rid of the marks by rubbing the stock down with a warm damp rag, but it now feels slightly rough and needs re-oiling, i would like something that would not mark again if it got wet but would still looks great
