Latest knife laws, as of last month are making it a pain to post knives in the UK. Need proof of age before delivery. Posting outside UK is even worse with brexit export/ import duties. Loads of couriers are just refusing to carry knives. Can see it finishing a lot of Uk makers.

One way to ship knives is to declare them as gardening tools or camping tools or similar, on this board there are several very good knifemakers in the UK, if you bring loads of time, I could make you some as well, just will need to deal with the import hassles.

As has been said, works of art mate. That folder is something special, how much for something similar but with a longer blade? Say about another inch in length and include posted to Spain.

Fantastic work as usual and nice photo's. ?

A folder is a completely different kettle of fish to make. First one takes a lot of time to work out. Looks spot on that one and very functional.

    Thanks Griff,

don't remember how many times I had to take it apart, sand here and there and putting it together again ?

Never really been in to knife making but like to look at a nice hunting knife or two??A lot of knives are expensive to buy I appreciate the time an work that’s gone in to making them but could never justify paying the prices to be stopped by the old bill and have a decent working man’s knife taken from me or loose it while out hunting I’ve lost a few half decent knives in my time I tend to rock the good old openal there cheap and do the job. This knife I made from a large disc cutter disc I found at work the brass pins on the handle are from a caravan hook up plug an the handle is made from a old piece of furniture

    Nice knife!

That's exactly the attitude that led me to knifemaking! :)

You don't want to spend that much on a knife but are not happy with the knives offered from stock? Make your own! I can guarantee that within a few months you will get a knife that you will apreciate much more than every other one.

Just one advice: I would start with a decent knife steel. Steels like 1.2442, 1.2510 or 1.3505 are quite cheap and easy to harden. The result will outperform any recycled disc, spring, chisel, file..

I’ve said it before and I’m saying it again. Your presentation of the finished article/s is immaculate. I think of Gruffalo’s lovely presentation in a rustic manner which takes your breath. Between the pair of you it’s a joy to see the end product. Well done. Jok.

    Thanks Jok,

I actually enjoy taking pictures of the finished produc nearly as much as making them. It's the final part of the entire project for me.

Hopefully I will get a picture from the customer with the knives together with the two Ferlacher guns.

As always, just a thing of beauty... I love your work.

All my fave knives have antler or ivory scales... ?

    Thanks for sharing...

    Thanks!!!

I'm a big fan of sambar and mammoth as well, these colours and this depth is something you can't find on man made materials. Reindeer can be nice as well and is a far cheaper option.

  8. Hello,

recently a customer asked me to make two knives, matching his Ferlacher guns. He sent me some walnut from the stocker and pictures of the engravings.

A small "Aficionado" to be caried in office together with a fountain pen from the same wood and a larger "Nicker" hunting knife.

The walnut has a traditional gunstock oil finish.
