Sorry to say that there is no beardie blood in those dogs. Border collie, fell collie if you like to call them that is the most recent collie used.

Ooty pup is a brother to Bear, red dog was from earlier litter.

Not what i was told when i brought mine, came with the papers and the breeding mate, the pup it boarder.

    Sorley x is right!

  2. As soon as the dog sees the quarry let it go, if there's a choice between a difficult run and an easy run, give it the difficult one. It's then up to the dog to work the quarry. Imo, its all about testing the dog and building on its abilities and stamina not about catch rates, with testing comes improved abilities and then catch rates. You then truely know your dogs capabilities and worth

  3. Not 100% sure what the oroginal fathom was to be honest but would always thought that it would have been collie blooded. There may have been some bull way back but it was certianly well diluted by the Pherab and Medra era.

Fathom 2 was either merab or phedra (always got them muddled up) x Hancocks Goose - red merle half cross. Defenatly was no GSD in them.

I used to take Fathom 2 out very often and she was suberbly well trained but she lacked a bit of pace for me. I would have put a greyhound over her and you would have had some cracking pups.

She ended up going to a guy down south called Mark (cant remember his surename) when Brian knew he wasn'r going to get better.

Little Fathom, I believe was the result of a tully x merab mating

Minion if you mean Merab II, she was out of goose x solo, a brindle bitch.

  5. I heard an absolute pearler a while ago. A lurcher expert/ author and judge (not mentioning who, male or female), recently and genuinely told my mate that his lurcher carried it's tail wrong for a lurcher! :wallbash: The lurcher authority in question is judging lurchers at one of the main gamefairs this year!
is it the one that writes in the cw, april the 9th mag is a belter, had a dog that never missed a fox, ffs

Don't read CMW regularly, so not seen the article, but if they say they had a dog that never missed a fox, more than likely! :notworthy:

you must get the issue its worth every PENNY,duck weed in a running river in mid november when winters were bitter cold, and fox snapping at inches from face , its a must,

lmfao, sounds a tailor made article for the cmw. Any chance of scanning it on the net? would love to read it. Nice to see how a proper dog works

  6. We were looking at some nutall pedigrees the other day comparing the old dogs to the new dogs. On paper the new dogs are bred down from the same lines as the older dogs i.e. no new blood added, just smaller dogs bred from is what we concluded.

so nuttals not a puppy farmer then? .lots of people say he is . IS HE? :wallbash:

Valid point, and hear he breeds a good few pups that cost a good few quid. Though if his dogs/ line are so bad, how come they're still going strong after all these years?

  9. From what I've seen of the dogs that people claim to have had out of his kennels, wouldn't touch them with a barge pole. They're just a blithering mess of mongeralisation, with a new breed of dog added as and when fancy takes, its a joke. What sort of person puts husky into a their line of lurcher for stamina? True working bulls and collies have more than enough stamina to offer, with tractability to boot. Lmfao, how many years can he trace the dogs ancestery back? To the first domesticated dog probably next week!

As to not breeding for money.....

  10. I want to see if I could manage to ever work my ferrets, but don't have anyone to go out and learn from. The main thing I worry about is the kill, would I be able to cope with it. As an animal lover and knowing that rabbit can scream rather horribly I beleive this just maybe to much. But as a realist and knowing that ferreting is the best form of controling rabbit and the fact that somewhere in my heart there's a hunter, I oviously need to try before I say NO WAY.

Is there anyone in the south wiltshire area that would be willing or knows someone willing to take a complete novic and her boyfriend out, and show them whats what. Maybe even try one of our ferrets out.

    thanks

Gordon Bennett, it reminds me of that book, "The Sett" by Ranulph Fiennes. lol, stop at home everyone, its more than your life's worth!

  11. Ireland would probly have the best not just saying that because im from ireland but just that iv seen some serious irish patts over here and if the english patts can top them then il eat my hat but alot of the english lines go back to irish so they say! :victory:

It's true that is now and the English Wheatons are better than the Irish ones :wallbash:

  12. was gonna go ratting but rang mate he said carnt go cos vaccines have ran out on his terriers i said dont matter i only get pups jabbed but he wouldnt come till he gets em done anyone else do this
BY THE TIME THE BOOSTERS ARE DUE THE DOG WILL HAVE DEVELOPED IT OWN IMUNE SYSTEM MY DOGS GO RATTING AND I ONLY GET THEM DONE AS PUPS . NEVER HAD ANY PROBS.

ALL THE LADS I GO OUT WITH DO THE SAME

    yeah thats what i thought

    Lmfao. Muppets. :clapper:

  13. Sounds a bit suspect to me. As far as I know the Mk2 had a handset like the Mk3. It's only been used twice? So why is has it a new sticker on the wheel? And the collar shown, if it's been used twice, there wasn't any dirt in the burrow. As the two brand new ones arre still in the packaging. If it's the real maccoy only used twice you're onto a winner, if it's not...............
