  1. The first dog I had when I was 14 was a first cross springer whippet, 38 years ago!

Looking back it was shite, it opened up, couldn't catch in the open and was an ugly f**ker. It was a good ferreting dog though and an excellent ratter and busher, I probably though had more fun with her than any dog I have owned since, we would walk miles for hours and it was a success if we caught a rabbit think it was a case of the blind leading the blind :)

  2. Is there not alot of competiton with the gardening business? Only seems to one of the most common things i hear when people mention going self employed. Know my area seems to have quite a few of em. I like the idea of running something that can be handled online. Only because it then means can live somewhere abit rural where the houses are cheaper.

Yes your right you see the estate car brigade start up every spring but they are rarely there the end of winter:)

Look up Waardenburg syndrome in ferrets.

Yes tiercel it was my first thought but is definitely not deaf, plays ok etc seems a normal kit except for the colouring.

Waardenburgs can cause deafness but not in every case. Humans get Waardenburgs also but not accompanied by the deafness. The main clue with that kit is the four white paws.

Interesting I didn't know that, what's the outlook for the kit then?

Get your self a hap sack sprayer , by 20 litters of Gallup and go round the doors spraying weeds for a start

Illegal unless you have appropriate spraying tickets.

Sighthound i think you only need the tickets if you have employees?? am not 100% on this but its what ive been told by a fella.I dont bother with weeds at all so am not assed lol
No, you definitely need it if your spraying for reward, Pa1 and Pa6. Some people acquired grandfather rights but this was stopped this year. Your supposed to produce your ticket when buying chemicals.

  5. I'm a gardener. I target high end gardens and work throughout the year.

This site has lots of info http://landscapejuicenetwork.com/forum/topics

Don't sell yourself too cheap its easy to be busy when you are charging £10 per hour but when you take off your tax, NI and insurances plus depreciation you'll be on less than the minimum wage I try and avoid charging by the hour and charge per job but you should be looking to be pulling in £20 to £30 per hour which is easily achievable. Don't forget your spraying certificates etc and don't buy cheap machinary it will cost you more in the end.

ive lost ground ,through no fault of my own, had 80 acres not a lot but get few runs on it, was always told by owner that if go lamping bell him , which I did . Well was getting night sorted out, so phone him , he said w\s you on the other night, I said no as I told him I phone 1st, before I go on . He said had few other landowners who live by moaning , about lamp al over the place, so said its better if don't come on any more , as i don't want any lamping on or by my place. Well what twat of human being :censored: I done no wrong but lost ground for feck all. But I learned big lesson that day say feck all and just go on, you may as well bcause if you don't , somebody else will. the days of me knocking doors are over, ok if bump into somebody in a pub or etc. meaning nothing planed might drop it out in chat, but that's it. if you got ground great look after it, but some people are very fickle like as above , you never know whats around the corner .?

Just be careful. One of our biggest shoots has given us orders to shoot any dogs on sight, apart from two labs that walk on there.. he's always got livestock around, anything from sheep to cattle, plus it's a deer shoot.

And before you go off on one about what you would do if your dog dropped dead bear in mind (A ) we're on night vision so you wouldn't even know we were there, and (B ) we carry firearms, skinning knives, machetes and 6 foot shooting sticks. And there's always more than one !

Just be careful and check all round for empty parked vehicles

And they give pricks like you a licence?

  7. A brick wall is fine but not for the sleeping quarters my court its 6x4 and is also built onto a wall. I've screwed the sleeping quarters onto the wall with a ladder so they can climb up so it keeps it off the floor.

As has been said fill it with pipes and other toys and you'll have happy healthy ferrets. I like courts cos it gets the ferrets used to seeing you and the dogs at ground level
