I decided to get an .22 SMK QB78 Deluxe, I've also ordered an XP tuning kit, to be fitted out by my local shop which should increase the muzzle velocity a bit

As it says in the title, what is the best caliber for occasional hunting, rabbits, pigeons, rats, and target shooting at home. The gun I'm looking at shoots at 800 FPS with .177 and 501 FPS with the .22 pellets.
I have had experience with spring powered air-soft rifles so I think I would like to step up into hunting with proper air-guns. I have used a friends CO2 powered rifle before and I was amazed by the power and control you had with the gun.
The rifle I'm looking at is a Rat Sniper Co2 .22 Air Rifle XS78,
