  1. have a quick look at my post from a couple of months ago, just type in 17hmr zeroing problems and it should come up before you go for a lower end scope, the money i wasted in ammo could have doubled the price of the scopes i bought
  2. well thanks for everyones help but it turned out to be the scope i tried zeroing it in on lowest mag and got it set then changed it to full 24x mag and the point of impact changed so i tried it the other way and set it up on full mag then zoomed out and again it changed. i then set it on on 12x mag and did nt change it, tried that for a few outings and it stayed perfect. i have now bought a far better quality scope of a mate and set it up on the weekend at full 18x mag zoomed back out and it stayed on target at whatever magnification perfectly. so the moral to the story is that you rea
  3. thanks for everybodys replies. i have been to the local gun shop today where i bought the gun and he has told me that it is becuase i have been zeroing in with the scope at full 24x magnification and then when i zoom back out it changes but if i set it at the minimum 6x mag then it should then work at whaterver zoom after or the other option is to spend £500 and upwards on a decent scope which makes these alterations automaticly when you zoom has anyone heard of this before
  4. if the mod was knakered could that cause the same type of problem
  5. it is set at 100 yards on end soas i can see clearly
  6. it has got an ajustable objective lens from 15 yards to infinity but is that the same thing. i have had friends of mine who are experienced shots and they put it in pretty much the same place as me when its set up
  7. how consistent do you have to be when mounting rifles? i do a lot of competition shooting with shotguns so sub conciously mount that right everytime but i am new to rifles. i used to do a lot with air rifles and have always been a reasonaby shot but i have just never had any of these problems
  8. yeah around every 50 rounds i put the rod through i just had a watch on you tube at the paralax problems and that would definenatly explain a few things but is that just on the cheaper end scopes i only have a bsa 4x24x50 which is around £100-£150 so not expensive but not bad to look through
  9. yeah they are nice and tight but the other thing that i dont understand is that it is only left and right that moves which has happened on both scopes
  10. no there is plenty of space in cabinet so i think thats fine but it is quite tight when it goes in the hard case but i would have thought that was a good thing
  11. what do you mean by parralax isues. i dont think there is enough movement in the forend to touch barrel but i will definetly check but i cant understand why it still groups well just in wrong place
  12. hello, i have got a cz455 varmint thumbhole in 17hmr over the last month i have zeroed it 6 times at 100 metres every time i get it crack on, put it back in a hard case take it straight home and put it away never bumping it but then the next time i come to get it back out again the sights have gone out again by 3 to 4 inches so no small amount and no wind where i am setting it. i have tried two brand new scopes so have ruled that out. i am using the same hornandy v-max ammo when it goes out it still groups well, just in the wrong place and it is usually left or right and not up and
