Yeah i see where your coming from, i want a dog to mooch about with that will kill rats and hopefully the odd rabbit.

Then i'll cook it over the fire in my lovely cozy cottage and chuck scraps to the dog Ok i'll stop dreaming now lol

The dog wont be going to ground or lamp so it doesnt need to be reall small or on the other hand pretty big so it can chase the Wabbits, When i say catch rabbits i mean bushing etc

Just checked out the beddy whippet etc and dont really like the look of them, too skinny, i would prefer a broken coated small - medium terrier

I will be getting me own dog in about a years time I know its not exactly close but i want to know what im gunna get so i can research it etc..

I want a medium sized dog which can be used to hunt rabbit and rats and maybe work with ferrets

It will have to be hardy and able to sleep outside with me when i go camping.

Know of any breeds or crossbreeds ?

I am going to go around the farmers and ask if i can snare some rats and try and get the dog into it

I know of a perfect place but its a private wood and your not aloud in there so no good really

So im looking for rat holes and the runs ??

Im buying some rabbit snares for xmas, could i use these for rats aswell, if i set them lower and make the loop smaller ???

I need to make up some rabbit snares tonight for use tommorow

Ive got some twisted wire which i will double up, how long does it need to be ??? How many should i make ????

Can i use a fishing swivel for the eye ??

Just found the wire and made a snare from it, tied to one end is a large fishing swivel and for the runner i used a smaller swivel

Its about 12 inches long

Now i just need to tie a bit of cord to the large swivel and i will be sorted How long should it be ???

Where do i set it ???

Ive got quite a bit of wire left so might make a rabbit snare out of it by doubling it up and twisting it

After reading lots of threads on ratting recently its really got me wanting to go out and kill some dirty great feckers    I have a bull terrier but was thinking more along the lines of rat snares, ive read you can make them out of fishing line, this a good way ??? How often do i check them and where do i place them ??Ive seen loads near the woods where they feed the pheasants and ive watched them climb up the sweetcorn plants, knock the actuall sweetcorn off onto the floor and then feed on it.Cheers Leon
