  1. Cheers guys! She seemed to have heaps more energy this morning on her walk. Running around like a lunatic, just burning off exess energy? Not sure if it's the new food or just a coincidence as she's only just had her second bowl of raw?

  2. I've only had her two days so she's still settling in, a bit nervous but getting there. She'd barely touch her food before but was obviously hungry. Just put down just under half a lb of Irish beef mince along with a slice of bread and a carrot chopped up and she wolfed it down!

I'm picking up some minced chicken carcass, lung and heart tomorrow so am going to mix in some of this beef mince I've got as well as veg from the list socks kindly provided me with!

Still trying to get my head around amounts but I guess it's trial and error. I haven't weighed her but she's 24tts and finely built (can get my hand across her chest just about).

  3. Getting my first lurcher tomorrow. She's a 9 month saluki grey with a bit of collie in her.

Been reading on here for years but only now in a position to get a lurcher and don't know many people local that are in the game so looking to meet people that are willing to let me come out with them. Ferreting would be great to just let the pup watch....

  4. He reckons that they don't get much. Might have to ask another butcher, I guess I could then feed the mince he's going to do me with chunks of offcuts mixed in. What about bread, veg? Just trying to keep it as simple as possible but with everything the pup needs...

  5. Picking my first lurcher up this weekend so trying to get my head around feeding!

I've got a mate who owns a butchers shop so I'm trying to give him a list of what I want and get him to mince it. He said he can get chicken carcass, pigs heart, lung and tongue. Whould that he alright or would you recommend mixing in some more meat?

Planning to feed with whole grain bread?

  6. Been AGES since I posted on here! I'm not a donator at the moment so won't let me post in the classifieds as a wanted add so hope this doesn't break any rules!

I'm after my first lurcher. I've waited years to be in a position where I can finally get one :D

I'd like something small, beddy whippet or similar? It's to be a companion with some rabbiting and mooching in the evenings and weekends. I'd like to take it to work with me if it's obedient enough but we'll see....

I'm in ipswich but am willing to travel a little way for the right dog.

Oh and it's gotta be a bitch as my nan doesn't want it pestering her labs. Something young but of that pup stage would be ideal....

  7. Decided I want to start bulking this winter then cut a bit for summer. I've got a basic knowledge but would like some pointers from some more experienced members...

I'm toned/strong for my size due to always being active and previous jobs but I want to pack on some mass now! I'll be happy If I gain a stone.

I've started drinking total gainer in the morning and before I go to bed which works out 411 calories a drink as well as eating a large tub of pasta filled with tuna and mayo in the afternoon and then my evening meal, also going to buy some nuts to snack on through the day. As I'm a small lad both height and built wise, would this be enough to start my bulking?

  8. I'm now 20 and have decided it's time to get out of dead end jobs and look for a 'career'! I'm an outgoing person and want to choose something that suits me..

I started an Aboriculture Diploma but left it to join the army which didn't go to plan anyway which was a waste. I did enjoy it and it was something that I could have set up my own buisness in and hopefully made an alright living out of it :)

When I left school I thought about going to College and studying Countryside Management but never ended up doing it. Things like videoing wildlife etc interest me, I often watch people on tv abroad with Bears/Lios etc and think that's something I'd LOVE to do but just how realistic is this?

Anybody gone down this route or any other 'exciting' job that could give suggestions or advice? I know It'll be a case of starting at the bottom but I think It's about time I started..

  9. Gunna start cycling with the Dog as soon as I pick up a cheap bike..

I've got a route where I can have him off the lead with no worries. Should I just let him wander off at first and empty himself out before riding?

I plan on just having him trotting at first to get him used to it, how long would be a decentish time to start him off? 10, 20 minutes?

  10. Okay mate, I used to use one with my EBT but used that in a different way. It was made of 4 or 5 canes tied together and I used to let her catch it every now and then..

I'll get hold of a long cane and tie a bit of leather to the end on a string and give him a go. I guess I'll just start easier/short periods and lengthen the workouts as he gets fitter ;)

I'll be walking him from about 5pm - 6pm for 3 miles every evening at first, is it best to feed after? I was looking at buying some decent grub, looking at Red Mills?

    Cheers, Butch.

  11. Cheers mate, exactly the kind of thing I was after!

I think I'll just walk him 3 miles every evening until he's used to that then move onto alternating between walking and running beside the bike each day..

What would you say would be a good distance to start him beside the bike? I've got the perfect place in mind (long straight grass wall along the river)

I need to get a flirtpole sorted, where can I buy one? Haven't got room for a Springpole/A Frame unfortunately!

    I'll just go measure/weigh him ;)
