    Ratting

Does anyone in Hampshire do any ratting and need another pair of hands. I have a young lakey/patterdale and can travel.
  2. Blan, You used to get a red folder with all your course reports etc. There was a document called an AF B108X which was your certificate of service with a nice write up from the CO. This all stopped a few years back due to cost. Now you still get a write up which is emailed to your MCM Div, but not on the headed paper and isn't really worth a lot with regards to job hunting etc. I've had a look for a template on the intranet but the format has been taken off as the form is now obsolete. All the best , Geoff
  3. Was thinking that, got a few young ones to bump the numbers up when they're old enough
  4. Yeah tried different ferrets, the sets are quite deep though, so maybe bigger than I thought.
  5. Has anyone been out recently and found that rabbits are more reluctant to bolt than during the winter months. I normally only ferret from Sept/Oct onwards but the kids have been hounding me to go out. I've had a few but definatley harder than in the winter, there dosen't seem to be any really young ones around and no lay ups but ferets and rabbits rattle around the warren for ages, is it just the time of year?
  6. Paul, I've been toying with the idea of a Plummer for rabbiting/ratting but heard mixed reports. Not interested in digging etc, just a companion for me and the wee lad on trips out. What are they like around the house/breaking to ferets/livestock etc? Geoff
  7. Good mornings work Paul, great looking wee dog. ATB
  8. Hello Callum, as Obby says they don't need to be trained as such, it might be worth taking them to a small bury that you know is unoccupied to get them used to being picked up from the entrance etc. Once they get the hang of it you'll find that they are usually quite keen to enter a warren and seem to enjoy the experience. Obviously some work better than others but I've never had a ferret that refused to enter a bury in 20 years. Some develope a habbit of laying up with a kill which can be a pain in the arse, but you have to take the rough with the smooth and enjoy the sport.

  10. They are, if need be I'll get extra housing and keep them but didn't want to see them starve because some wanker had lost interest. They'll be fine together for a couple of months yet.
  11. I have 2 hob kits that I recued as part of a group of four. I am keeping the mother and one other hob who will be vasectomised as soon as he's old enough, but need a good working home for the other 2. If anyone in the ilts/Hampshire area is interested give me a shout. Geoff
  12. Does anyone know how Portland is fishing at the minute? Fished Abbotsbury a few times this summer but plagued by doggies and mackey bashers. Looking for pollack, wrasse etc but around that area as travelling from Salisbury. If anyone fancies a trip out give me a shout.
