Don't see why people would feed bread and milk these days,even if you don't catch much for them to eat you can go to a supermarket and buy reduced chickens,liver,mince etc.for a reasonable price.at least there getting protein and calcium which I can't see them getting from bread. Atb

I found the same with the dry aswell put a lot of weight on them and they were crapping loads,think they do a lot better of a pure meat and bone diet,drys got filler in like rice and wheat which ferrets can't digest.

I feed mine chicken wings,rabbit,pigeon,mince,liver etc. Egg now and again and also a bit of fish

must be some ferret if it opened hutch and got back in haha didnt explain that properly,i got a new hutch off the internet its got bars on it,put my jills in the first night but my little polecat is a lot smaller than the others and she got out stupid of me really.my two albino jills are to big to escape though,when she come back i meshed it all up.lesson learned

similar to what i feed mine mate i found the chicken wings to be good they contain more fat than a rabbit plus they get calcium from the bones and apparently eating the bones cleans there teeth. atb

Yes i know a lot of people do that feed dry in the summer and i understand why because the flies can be a pain in the arse,i just put a portion i think they will be able to eat and i feed it at night when it gets cooler.I just check in the morning if theres any remains left and clear it out. ATB

thanks for the replies,i was giving mine the dry quiet regularly when i first got them,i just found when i switched them over to just fur,feather diet they seemed to be a lot more active,shit a lot less and looked like they got a better build.My hob loved the dry but he got very fat and lazy on it i found.Just what ive found with my ferrets. ATB

Hi just wondering what all you lads feed your ferrets on?I bought a big bag of dry when i first got my ferrets nearly two years ago but hardly ever use the stuff its handy to have when im out of meat but find they shit loads with it and there is a lot of fillers in them such as plant extracts etc. think if you work it out its probably cheaper to give them meat you can get plenty of chicken wings etc. on the reduced section in the supermarket for cheap and my ferrets seem much more eager to eat it than the dry stuff plus i think they look healthier nice shiny coat and muscular build.Not slating

my polecat jill got out of the new hutch the other week it was gone 7 days thought it was dead,got home from work to feed the others and it was back in the hutch with them,it looked well and it looked like it had been eating.extra mesh on the hutch now shes my best worker lol

Hi,my polecats kits are 5 weeks old there in a warm hutch get plenty of food and fresh water,all look healthy and strong.Went to feed them today and one of the little jills was dead was wondering what it could be the day before it looked fine.Just thought it a bit strange just to die all of a sudden.Any thoughts on what could have caused it this is my first litter so was just wondering. atb
