  1. Just bought an SMK 3-9 x 56e scope and am now in a dilemma as to their quality for air rifle shooting. It is unused so I could take it back but wondered if anyone has any good or bad experience with them
  2. Um, just bought a 97kt, what needs to be done to it then?
  3. Just bought the above mentioned scope for my, soon to be arriving, HW97 kt. Will standard mounts be ok or will it need bigger/higher ones?
  4. Scrap the idea of waiting. I just knocked on 2 more local farmers and have secured 2 large neibouring rape seed fields one of which has a massive bunny problem. Only trouble is the warren is actually off limits at the moment because it is in the grounds of the steam railway but the rabbits have eaten so much rape that they are coming right out into the field to get food. Can't wait to start work there
  5. He is quite tall, 18" atw and not at all fat if that's what the reply implies
  6. Sorry don't get this reply
  7. I am lucky in that the first farmers door I knocked I was given permission. I wont knock anymore until I have proved my self there then I can drop his name and that 'I do a bit for him' when I ask a neighbouring farmer. I had some business cards done but only took them as back up if I get a knock back.
  8. Thanks for the comments. Dogs only chase rabbits, Staffy killed a fox a few years ago. It was dark and wasn't even in the countryside and before I could call him off it he had snapped its neck. He nearly had another large red fox pre ban but it was near a public footpath and there were some ramblers near us so I called him off it, he's quite obedient. The ridgeback does the catching and he does the dispatching. P.s someone else said I should send the pic into country file or somewhere
  9. Thanks, I am a very proud owner. The staffy is really hard working and never stops, if I took him out for three hours then wanted to go out in the early hours he would be up for it. The ridgeback is good when the chase is on but will walk with me usually until I or she spots something then she fires up. Bit lazy sometimes but she is quite young.
  10. Sorry just realised the images are massive, will resize next time
  11. Ridgeback is a 2yr old bitch and the staffy cross is 6 and weighs 60 pounds
  12. Great news, sourced a brand new synthetic kt .22 for £340 and just got my first permission on a local farm. I knocked on and just offerd my services and he said "we've got loads of rats, come round at the weekend and I'll show you around. There are magpies and rabbits but don't shoot the hares" Fair enough isn't it.
  13. Ok, I'm after a brand new hw 97kt and found this advert on tinternet http://www.mendipclays.co.uk/msgguns.html phoned them today to pay deposit and arrange collection to be told 'actually the price is slightly different at £440 and not £365' bit out of order I think. Does anyone know where a good deal can be got on said rifle either in wood or synthetic?
  14. No I haven't. Looks like sexist and rascist comments but i may be mistaken. Not a good start
  15. Thanks for the site link some good info on there. I now know that I can't use explosives to kill squirrels, damn it. Thanks for the 2 welcomes hope the popcorn hasn't all gone Johnny
  16. Hi guys, joined the forum a week or so ago and getting back into air gunning. As a teenager I was forever out with my hw35 and was just checking what I am legally allowed to hunt. It use to be Rabbits, woodys, rats , magpies, crows, jays and squirrels, have i missed anything and are there any I shouldn't be shooting on that list?
  17. Cards look quite good but which do you think is the biggest pest, rabbit or woody?
  18. Hi, new to the forum and hoping to get back into shooting, a hobby I loved for years. What would be the best approach to a farmer or land owner when asking permission to shoot vermin there? Also I used to shoot rats at a local land fill site which is now closed, what would be a good site for rats???
