  1. Francie bred Borzoi and yes she did just want a smaller version. They are all dna tested before you breed and were originally Sheltie Whippet Crosses which was then selectively bred to small Borzoi, the difference is that the breed has been kept pure. Now, in the States they race and course them and believe me they do very well. We have some racing for them here, they will chase rabbit or hare but you cannot chase hare round here, the farmers put up trip wires to stop it so, unfortunately it is just plastic bags or furry skins.
  2. They cannot be Silken Windhounds as they do not have AKc papers, I think they are other Windsprites or long haired whippets. Not that it really matters if he loves them.
  3. I think they chase Jack Rabbits as well, I would love to, I took mine up to Scotland to race but it's not the same I know.
  4. I take it that you have seen is regisration documents then, I did look them up he showed both parents neither were Silken Winhounds
  5. There are only 55 in England, I brought in the first. They are not Whippet Borzoi crosses, they have some of both breeds in them but that is not all, I bed and showed Borzoi for approx 36years and although I do see some Borzoi traits they are not much like them at all. went on line to have a look, they look lovely puppies but look nothing like Silken Windhounds
  6. No they don'tThis litter between borzoi x whippet lurcher was bred not far from me. http://www.soozoo.demon.co.uk/lurcher_puppies_2012.html I remember seeing them advertised in town. as you said borzoi x whippet lurcher, that is not what a Silken Windhound is

  8. sorry but there are no lads breeding them in England, I think he has been spinning you a line
  9. They are certainly not bred to be mini Borzoi. They can and do work.
  10. I will try to put up a photo of one of my Silkens running, they are not hoop backed as someone said earlier, I would love to race and course them, I live neat Boston Lincs so if anyone know on anything near I would love to hear from them.can't work out how to put in photos. I have added it at the bottom
  11. I breed them but am the only person in England with puppies at the moment and none are going to Yorkshire
  12. I have a great interest in all longdogs. I have bred and shown Borzoi for a lot of years, also owned Whippets. I shared the importation of the first Silken Windhound into this Country. Francie Stull in America who formed the breed did not make up long haired Whippets. This was another man in America. Francie bred various lurcher type animals with Borzoi to make a small coated hound that can indeed and does indeed work. They are fast and are used for racing and coursing in America. Those of us that now own them in England know that the hunting, coursing instinct is very strong, as well a
