No mate, she's only 4-5 week, no signs of yet, if she doesn't hold this time there's obviously something wrong and I'll have to try plan B

get her scanned mate, only 30/40 quid then you'll know one way or the other, neither of my greyhounds looked pregnant at  4_5 weeks👍

She out of Roxholme Nidge who won the east Anglian derby, she’s 26 tts and I’d guess around 27kg, I’ve got a few people interested at the moment so might try greyhound data if needed later on

    who's the dam?

  3. Get her progesterone tested mate...saves disappointment. Last bitch I bred I took her for testing on day 9 just to get a better idea for later in the week to make arrangements with stud dog owner..only to find her levels way up and had to be lined that day or she'd go over..9pm dash to Yorkshire ..didn't expect her ready for at least 3 days..

Iv spent almost 30 years around working dogs and only met one or two dogs I’d class as not being able to fit into family life , you’ve only got rabbit dogs , there hardly killing machines mate

And I read about your last litter the stud dog you used no one even knows where he come from and he couldn’t been that well worked because he was shifted on quiet quickly after you used him at stud

    Who is this aimed at?

I don't think £600 is out of the way for a pup.if it's what you are looking for I would pay it. thought of breeding my own but the time and effort that goes into it and the timewasters and arseholes you have to deal with put me off.

I've had 25 to 30 messages about these pups Fred..some probably good owners but imo not right for these..some absolute dickheads...one very nice lady rang me and explained she'd just lost her 13yr old retriever and had always wanted a "scruffy" lurcher to accompany her and the family on their woodland walks local..she then went on to reassure me it wouldn't get a chance to chase or hurt any rabbits as there was none, just squirrels and lots and lots of deer...?

Even at 1 month, thought that was to early for a scan.

No mate, scan them at 30 days it's bang on..at 30 days embryos are attached to uterus wall and should show a nice dark nucleus..the shadows when she absorbed them were actually scars where embryos had attached and been absorbed..the bitch can absorb them up to 40 days, after that she would have to pass them...

Some lads do all that an still gift pups away £600 is alot of money for a working dog that may not make any good ?

You're right tank, but I simply couldn't afford to do that..likes been said, plenty want them but I got off my arse and went to the trouble/expense of taking the greyhounds on and doing it..a good friend of mine was gifted one...another pup was being gifted but there was only one bitch..I enjoy having the greyhounds and put a lot of time into them,it's not a chore, but surely I can't be expected to do all the work year round, pay for it all and then just give the pups away to strangers on the Internet. As I said earlier I could have sold these pups at least five times over...the first one going through the ad is going to London to a good owner and will be a lamping dog..

No ,not at all but if your breeding a litter of working pups why not put them on here first ,also looking at the bedy grey lurcher threads they good few lads who have asked about pups so maybe give them a chance to get one and the you can pick who you let them  go to

    Like I said I got my first X for 100 so I wouldn't be paying 600

  10. I'm guessing this is aimed at me...mine are going to working homes..at a decent price...I didn't put them on here because of things like this..you said you would rather breed your own for 600..I think you'll find kenneling, feeding, bedding, cleaning worming  ,jabbing a greyhound year round and rearing a litter will cost treble this..if you're lucky..

Messaged him said dog would make 26tts  for a first coss is that no  big

The litters mine Davie..I don't remember telling anyone 26..my daughter must have replied to you..There's a dog pup here will definitely make 24/25 he's an absolute lump..The bedlington is from Rillington lines and is worked but I'm not putting another man's name on here...As for the price of the pups..this bitch was mated 12 months ago but absorbed them at 30 days..I could have passed her on but I didn't.. she's my dog and I'm very fond of her so I waited 12 months and tried again..she's in kennels with my other greyhound but I do all the feeding ,cleaning, exercising etc..and it all costs money...Then there's the cost of progesterone testing ,taking the guy from the fertility clinic from Manchester to Yorkshire at 9 at night,I'm also due an electric bill the size of Blackpool councils for all the heating they've had..I could have sold the litter 5 times over but I'm very fussy about who gets them and for what.1 has gone to a friend with whippets and terriers who races them all over the country and is a 5 star home..there was only one bitch in the litter a small one she was gifted to a very good friend of mine who apparently is a friend of yours..she will be a lamping dog in Cumbria..Ones going tomorrow to a chap from London also as a lamping dog. These are the only people I've allowed to come and see them, the others either wanted fur babies or I just didn't like them..they stay here until the right people turn up..I also pmd a member who was looking for one who going by his posts is a decent fella and offered him one for 300,but he's sorted..The litter was bred to give my pal a good sized bitch to work all going well in 3 years my non ped will go over this giving me what I want..I'm that pleased with everything about the litter I'm doing it again in 12 months, hopefully there will be what I'm after then. Before anyone starts the Hancock bollocks the 2 bitches have had 5 seasons between them whilst with me,I also bred a litter of non peds for my club all of which were booked before born and went for working mens prices...Also I rang chris who gave me Roo in 2016 he's not after a pup atm but I've told him I'll let him know when she's next in season and he can come pick himself a pup...

Hi Northern Lad,.yeah,..Kelpies and Cattle Dogs are completely different in many ways, but amazingly similar in others..

Both types have been purpose bred to fullfil a specialist task, in their native country..

I think it is a missnomer to confuse these herding types with the average Border Collie,....facts are, they are,..different...

Problems can sometimes occur when folk simply get one, because they fancy one,...obviously, its a free country and a man must always do as he wants,...its no business of anyone else..

In saying this,..I do owe a great debt to certain canines types, and it is sad to see lads contemplating lurcher breeding programes, kinda willy nilly,..and without giving much thought as to where all the surplus pups, will inevitably end up..?

Over the years I have handled (and bred) a few hybrids from these antipodean herding dogs, and I have also been priviledged to meet hundreds of my fellow lurcher enthusiasts throughout the UK, and it has always been patiently obvious to me that , by and large,..the pastoral composite lurchers, created from such unique animals, sure don't suit everyone?

You've hit the nail on the head Phil..he got her because his mate has one and tbf it is a well behaved/mannered dog..it goes to work with him every day and can wander/hunt till its hearts content on the fields surrounding his workshop..my son in law fancied one and thought it would be fine with a half hour walk in the morning and half an hour with a ball thrower in the evening when he got home from work..being left in the house with his elderly parents in-between.It was only ever going to end badly but he wouldn't listen..The dogs fine if his parents are home, but if they need to nip out there's carnage..They were all at a wedding recently and asked me to feed it and let her out during the day,I thought I'd take out for a few hours mooch at the same time,I've known this dog from 8 weeks old,not a prayer was it letting me in the house...wrong dog /wrong owner..shouldve got a fecking pug..

Pretty much all dietary allergies are to a protein, its usually specific to one protein IE lamb, beef, chicken etc, the problem is  finding which one as most completes have a mix of different ingredients. The leading anti allergy diets tend to use "novel" proteins like feathers etc that the body won't have met before so they don't cause an allergic reaction.

Having said that as Byron notes above "stress" is one of the biggest causes of stomach upsets and often gets lost in the quest for a cause leading to random allergies being blamed without a definitive diagnosis. As you say, sounds like the wrong dog for the place.

First thing I thought was stress..the dog gets exercise but not enough imo..nor mental stimulation...I told them to put it on chicken and rice first, this made her worse...I'd be confident in the diagnosis now as the dog recovered as soon as it went on this science diet stuff,it's tinned and a special mixer..think it costs them about 25 quid a week to feed it..the dogs an absolute pain in the arse tbh,at worst a liability...
