i use pipe laging (hollow foam cylinders)to cover over the bottles and tops with a small slit at the bottom so there is only about 1/2" of the metal spout uncovered this works most of the time except for when its prolonged frozen temps then the spouts will still freeze up.

cheers for the replies,iv used the old sit in kayak for whitewater river and still water slalom over the years,tested it out in the surf just out side the breakers,primary stability is quite good secondary stable is acceptable,this yak has got a lot of rocker front to back,so far i have opened up the sit in port and removed the spray skirt similar to a sprint design, added front and rear sealed bulk heads tanks,added to the kayak bottom, running from the cockpit to the stern to reduce the rear rocker and to increase the waterline so it tracks better but still has a lot at the front so it wo

It is a personal choice about widths but i normaly go about 15 -20 if you want a wide net a good average is about 18 meshes wide

as previously stated above the only thing i can add is if you want shaped nets start with 9 or 10 meshes on the ring and add a mesh every 2nd row untill you reach the desired amount of meshes then do 4 rows then reverse the process then tie off on the ring
