  1. alright lads, things havent been so rosy with the bitch and pups, been the worst experience ive ever had with a bitch having pups. i wanted to wait and see what made it and what didnt before i posted on here about it, a few lads know the full story from pms from when she started to have them untill now. im not going to do a step by step account of how and what happened but basically she had 5 pups last thursday, given oxytocin after the first pup to help her have them nice and quick as we all knew she had a belly full of them plus the fact that she is 10 years old i wanted to make it as easy as possible on her. skipping forward there was no more pups comming and panic was setting in. a call to the the vet stated that all was ok that it isnt uncommon for a delay in delivery and give another shot of oxytocin to speed up the next lot of pups comming..... they didnt come and her pups were weak as she wasnt producing milk so bitch and pups to the vets. 9 remaining pups were taken from the bitch, one massive dog pup had blocked her up and caused complications for rest and blocked her solid. sadly the 9 hadnt survived from trying to be pushed out a dead end..... the vet said contractions had stopped as she was burned out, as a result she had stopped producing milk.... all 5 had to be bottle fed, two refused point blank to feed from the bottle, vet tried in vein and said it was unlikely they would make it. the bitch was f**ked, drugged to the eyeballs and we thought she wasnt going to make it, he said only for she was in such good condition and healthy for 10years old she would be gone by now ....could it get any worse..... we are now 8 days later, bottle feeding every hour up untill yest but thankfully the bitch has made a full recovery and has started to produce milk now after giving her lamblac everyday since she pupped. the two week pups faded away in the first two days so the result is 3 very healthy bitch pups and an old bitch that pulled through, (only 3 of her teeths are working!!)

snoop, roybo, and a couple more have known from the start how things were going but i asked them to say fek all untill we were out of the shit and i knew what was what. Would i go through it again with an old bitch......NOT A HOPE...... am i happy with the way it all ended up..... yes and no, yes because the two of us that planned the mating because we wanted pups for ourselves got what we aimed for, and no because of what i put the bitch through and nearly ended her days and fell out with the vet over it all!!

  2. not been on for a while due to basically no havin a dog to run through 1 thing or 10,, but ave got a story about a 10 month bullx pup who had a few serious set backs in her short working life, al be the first to admit years ago a would of got rid of this bitch after a start to life was always going to affect her long term build, stamina, joints ect, but a decided to persist and be patient way her, which meant going without a dog for near 4 months due to ma bitch toffee being lined, so 10 months comes ma pups solid looking now the unhealty coat gone out way go last wed ,lampin a few bunnys no kills but raised eybrows from myself to how good she ran the lamp and came in no bother  sunday morning out for rabbits, well ma pup turned up 2nd real mooch boom the collie grey puts 1 up held pup for about 5 seconds slipped her an after a good run on a fast firm surface she nipped it, not just up there with the biggest daytime ears ave had but defo 1 off the most satisfiying an lit the fire in the old belly for the game again.. lookin forward to a good season,, cheers,,,

  4. patience an time pal dont run before you can walk ,pups are hard work, a like to choose a exercise ie jumping retrieving ect and consentrate on that till the dogs confident about what your asking it to do then focus on the next command, hold him off your first bolter watch how keen he is then make your own mind up weather you think hes ready.. atb

Ive never seen that colour of first cross deerhound x greyhound..but, Ive always documented it was possible, the majority of first crossers will be brindle, with some blacks and an occaisional fawn..

al defo find out so am no bullshitting anyone,, she,s lighter than that photo after a good scrub today
  7. If you dont mind me asking what deerhound line/s are in her breeding?

  8. if the litter

Why do people put up the breeding behind their pups on thl or similar sites?

Is it for some kind of street cred??? Is it an attempt to "big" a pup up so it becomes some kind of legend even before its coursed its first hare???

    is it attention seeking?

what if your wonder pup jacks?

What if it draws the wrong type of attention ie dog theives?

just something ive been noticing a lot of lately... Thought id bring it up as a topic for debate

if you just put a picture of your dog/pup usally the first one or two replies goes, nice dog/pup hows it bred so i reckon thats why people do it.

but isnt it a big fall if after all the excitement and publicising of a pup if it jacks, after all wouldnt it be public embarassment as well as personal disapointment??

if it jacked then people will no not to go down that line of breeding..

but what part did the numpty on the other end of the leash play in it jacking ..did he flog the arse of it . did he run it with an injury /did he run it to young and spoil it? would they admit tothat,, or just blame the breeding/ i wonder :hmm:

i agree with riohog if a sent a litter pup from good stock and 9 months later got told it was a jacker,, dont think i would be questioning the dog :hmm: :hmm: .
