    The weather has been stinking hot 40+ so [bANNED TEXT] the weather man forecast a stormy night ,there is only one thing to do. I called a land owner .and loaded the staghounds . Arriving just after dark I set up my HID spotlight ,battery in my pack and a bottle of water . The wind was strong and staying in one direction ,heavy cloud made the night very dark. I headed off walking between the warrens and the open field . Letting the stags draw the lightly vegetated ground . as rabbits broke there seat i followed them with the spotlight.     We have them here in oz IMHO they work better than the red eyes , but then I might of just got some good black eyes and bad red eyes... Sleeping in he's food bowl .

    Ausnick Irma the tan bitch is 26 tts and 30kg long line of roo dog aka short coat staghound ivy the white bitch is 25tts and 30kg staghound with a sprinkling of bullterrier The deerhound is 29tts and 35kg

    Jigsaw It's taken a lot of work to keep them of the local wild life , stock proofing a dog is easy compared to roo proofing . I have them real good but it would not take much for them to be encouraged . They seem to have a come and catch me run to them lol and have a habit of jumping out straight in front of the dogs witch will tempt the best of dog. Dogs like Irma have been bread for generations to hunt Roos , the fella I got her from had a chiller box to keep the roo meat so he could feed all his dogs. It's illegal but out in the back blocks no one cares as they are a pest t

    Cats , fox , rabbits and hares . We leave the natives alone ,Roos walebeys and possums ( it's illegal to hunt native species ). Plus the Roos can damage your dogs real good . Cheers

    My brother who owns her uses her on all the local ferals . We have ran her with my stags on many hares but she needs more practice , still young . She has some stiff competition running with the stags the pair have a good understanding of the hare and bag a good number.

    Heres a pic of the deer hound she is almost 2 and only just came in season last month. Still got a bit to go upstairs but it will come in time .

    Ausnick , its around the echuca area , what's your location ? The rabbit population is real thick around the sandy country and rather low around the rest of the state . It's a shame because the sand warrens get a bit like honeycomb ( lots of tunnels) at times and a bit hard to work . Cheers

    Howdy Jigsaw Yep Australian locals , down the bottom in Victoria . For such a big dog the deerhound is surprisingly nimble at times. I don't have any more pics of the deerhound at the moment here is some of my little tribe,

    Hi all Out for a mornings sport with the ferrets and Irma my staghound and elexis my bothers deerhound pup ( what a monster) The air was cool with a north blowing wing , the sun had been up for a couple of hours when we ( my girlfriend and I ) arrived at the permission . This propriety is about 300 acres on sand with a sprinkler watered Lucien crop , the only fences were the boundary fences. There are a lot of warrens along the boundary fence on the west but some real good warrens lay in the middle of the crop or what's left of it. So this is wear we went straight too giving the hounds a
