What would be great is a "sticky" with a summary & score out of 10 against all the NV kit.
-
I take it the usual Scott Country "This is THE one" advertising on you tube (deliberate)!
Every other month they're heralding the answer to the maidens prayers of night vision.
Its actually sickening watching punters getting fleeced!

my m8s just got his ,its excellent but to get complete accuracy he bought the adjustable mounts 3 shots bang on then instead of a load of messing zeroing beforehand , damn good unit
Any details on mounts mate?
-
Does the XT have a mount for another illuminator?
Yes it has a side weaver rail for accessories.
Ty. Looks impressive compared with other digi stuff ive seen.
Going to stick it on a new T3 stainless wirh a titanium moderator.
Incidentally, anyone used quick release scope mounts? Good, bad, accurate?
-
from my experience stick with what you know.tikka are good rifles.
Thanks, i know, but saving 350 quid is tempting!

Normal speeding offenses will be ignored, however if its a ban for going too fast, dangerous driving, or drink/drugs driving they'll take your firearms licence off you.
Basically they claim that by getting done for the above, you're irresponsible.
This isnt supposition, its fact. Friend of mine got banned for doing 115Mph and they took his firearms licence off him.
BASC got involved but (Strathclyde) Police wouldn't budge.
That was 8 years ago and he still cant get his licence back.

Im about to get another .243 for night shooting. As i currently use a Tikka M595, i want to stay with this make as i love the 595. My preference is a T3 lite stainless with synthetic stock. Intend fitting a titanium moderator and a Photon XT 6.5 night scope. The T3 is selli g at £855...
But.....
Local dealer has a new Browning A bolt for 500 quid, and im tempted.
Any advice out tbere?

Seems like theres a shortage of Nosler 95g .243 bullets. Tried most places in Scotland but they've been out of stock now for months. Managed to get a box of silver tips, but not tried them yet.
I hear the most popular (and cheaper) round atm is Hornady vmax 87g in .243. Although they too are out of stock.
Anyone used them?

Like it or loathe it, DSC and being able to demonstrate your competence is here to stay.
Folk can bump their gums until they bleed, but its only going to get harder to go deer stalking.
Either embrace the change, or lose out.
Its a very simple choice.

Measure tge objective lens outside diameter, pop onto butler creek or outlet shop site & get nearest size, or better still get onto fleabay & buy cheap chinese alternative for quarter of the price.
Does the same job.

Yes just bought an XT , never had the MK1 to compare. Its a nice unit not impressed with the built in ir but slap on a T20 and its soo much better, Need adjustable mounts to zero in scope or me being a cheapskate shimmed up rear mount and Hey Presto all sorted, Will try and do a video on youtube so you can see , next week probably.
Isn't the XT zeroed electronically? Ie theres a function for movement of X & Y axis?
-
Why bring out another one out with in a few months of the other ?
Different magnification. The new one is for longer range i assume. The higher magnification may be too much for <50 yds shots.

Cheap scopes may move zero, quality scopes dont. I have a vaiable on a Docter, because I do various types of shooting. Its spot on at any mag. But it dod cost a grand.
As always its down to quality versus affordability.
Buy as good a quality as you can afford. In my humble folk compromise too much on glass.
-
Ian, could you or someone do a short comparison?
Thank you
Oh and ps; will you be selling?
-
Anyone used one of these yet? Looks impressive in this video

Well lads I started this post back in 2009 amidst rumours and scaremongery that DCS certs were to become law and that I would not be able to shoot deer if I did not cough up a chunk of my hard earned cash and sit the course.
I can only say that to date my shooting remains unaffected and I still have all my hard earned cash securely in my bank I have never been asked wheather or not I have these certs by any landowner or have they been insisted upon by the local constabulary, so unless you are going to be paying for shooting on forrestry commision ground that has been previously shot out by the commision stalkers then to date there has been no change so I am glad I stuck by my guns and refused to follow the trend of scaremongers who were spreading the rumours to extort cash from the stalking community.
I would like to add that I have had numerous conversations and correspondance from MPs regarding this matter and not once have I been told that this is to become law and many were in aggreement with myself.
So if your FEO is insisting upon these certs before issuing your firearms licence it appears he is stepping over the mark and you should be asking why and under whos authority are these certs required also do not be fobbed off take the matter further. Apparently according to what I am being told ...If you are of sound character and mind and can proove that you have the requirement for legal possesion of a firearm then they can not realy refuse providing your security comes up to the required standard.
I think you'll find the Chief Constable can do more or less as he pleases. Hes the judge jury & appeal court! If he considers it a good requirement then he has the powers to insist on a competency certificate.

id just ring him like I have done for info if you don't like him that's your problem mate .i take people as I find them he seemed fine with me
Lets hope it doesnt break then....I have one I like it the man who make them likes a drink but dose no his stuff iv had no problems with mine at all
That's cool im glad you get good service. Like ive said, look at the history on here & nightvision UK (where hes banned) of abuse & folk let down and you may change your opinion.

Ive tried a few moderators and always end back with the T8. As long as you clean it inside with lubricant it'll stay like new. 2 gunsmiths I know wont fit anything else unless requested.
There's a mob in England selling titanium mods but the price is horrific.
-
Well to put it as politely as possible: You'd be best doing a search on here for same product. Lets just say there's some bad tales of the guy behind the equipment.
Id personally avoid.

7 crees make this torch very bright...3 18650 batterys
gunmetal finish
£40 plus £5 postage
Where from? Are you selling?

I have the 3-12x56 with illuminated reticle. Its gone up £150 or so in the past year. Still a bit cheaper than Zeiss & Swaro but every bit as good if not better on some models.
Top quality scope. I personally wouldnt use anything else now.

What's the best rifle scope for the money
in Night Vision & Thermal

X 2, saved me typing.
Horses for courses, and what you can afford. Bushnell scopes are ok in daylight, but they're relatively cheap for a reason. Quite simply, Zeiss, Swaro, Docter, S&B are all expensive for a reason. German optic/glass which is unrivalled. Bushnell isnt anywhere close.
However its its for broad daylight shooting everytime, I guess itd be ok.
Personally I'd wait and buy once.
PS: Check out the Hungarian S&B Klassik. It goes through the same process and QA as its counterpart made in Germany, but much cheaper.
