    Where in the us are you from. I dont know anything about this I just like to read on here but it seems like ferreting in the US probobly will be tough to do. for one thing its illeagal in a lot of places. here in minnesota we cant use them on protected game and they define anything with a season as game so no rabbits but we could use them on rats. The other is that since there is no body ferreting there are no working ferrets here. they either come from the pet store or from show breeders and theres not a lot of them.

    Im from the us and just read on this sight about all the interesting hunting over there so I dont really know about a lot of it. I was just wondering what terrier poeple did before locator collars. I understand that sometimes they bolt but it sounds like usually you dig.

    Thanks for the info. I have had pet ferrets in the past and want to get some more but not if I cant work them. The only thing about rats is like was said I dont have a bunch of terriers to catch bolted rats. Also dont know if the pet type ferrets in america aren't good enough to hunt rabbits theyre probably not going to be good enough for rats. I thought hunting squirrels sounded strange too but im pretty sure i read it on the internet somewhere.

    I know rabbits are the most popular thing to hunt with ferrets and that ferrets can get injured while ratting but is the reason less people hunt rats because of the risk or just because you would rather hunt rabbits. Also Ive heard people talk about hunting squirrels with ferrets. How do you do that? Are they tree squirrels or ground squirrels. What else do people hunt with ferrets

    Ok I read part of the post with the link before I posted this question and dindt really under stand what they were talking about untill I went and read more of it. So if I go get a pet store type ferret (because thats about all thats availible here am I sol for hunting or will it just be a lesser qualit worker. Does anyone know how I could go about getting working type ferrets here. Is there anybody in america who has working ferrets. Can ferrets be shipped over seas very well? I bet that would cost a fortune. Im not planning on it I was just thinking.

    what I was wondering is over there are there ferrets that are bred for hunting that do a lot better than a ferret bred for a pet or is a ferret a ferret as far as its potential abbility to hunt well.

    Hi This is my first post on here. I am from america so I dont have much experience in hunting with ferrets. I would like to hunt some stuff thats not protected like rats and maybe some other stuff. I was thinking of trying prarie dogs but I dont know much about how their burrows are because they live mostly west of where i live. My question is, Is there a difference between hunting ferrets and pet ferrets or are they about the same. I was just thinking like dogs there are working lines and pet lines in a lot of breeds just wasnt sure if ferrets are that way. In america most all of our f
