  1. A friend of mine has a springer whose tail is disintegrating. She has had her at the vets several times and each time they've taken a bit of her tail off. Now she's at the point where they have taken as much off as they can and if it doesn't heal or becomes infected the dog will have to be PTS. I'm just wondering if anyone has any advice to aid healing and prevent infection? Thanks.

  3. I have recently split with my partner and the house I'm renting does not allow pets. I have my 3 half year old terrier bitch with me but have been asked to either leave the property or get rid of the dog. She is excellent on rabbit and rats but I have never tried her to fox so cannot comment on her ability there. She is used to both kennel and house (due to recent move) I really need to find her a suitable home very fast or I will have no option but to get her PTS and I will be gutted if it comes to that. Please PM me for any details. I live in Fawdon; Newcastle upon Tyne.

  4. Any lurcher type will do I would imagine. I go ferreting with a Border Terrier, a x terrier, a deerhound x and a Labrador, they all have their place and all do a different job. The lurcher is the one who won two lamping competitions on here with LDR - Bruce. He's getting on a bit these days but loves going ferreting. When I get organised I'll put some pics up of them all at work.

  5. I know how you feel, I lost my best ever working Jill a couple of months ago, it's a gutting feeling. I can't imagine it would have been that you didn't jab her - if it had been say the end of August I might have agreed but not at this time of year. Chin up mate.

  6. They cost £200

They just have a longer coat, thats all the difference i could see.

One has already come into the rescue.

Aw, what a shame, I just don't 'get' the high price? Yes they seem popular as pets. As you know I've got several working ferrets and a few that are just pets that I take to shows. Is the breeder you know the woman who was at the show at Crook? Is the angora ferret at the rescue a full male?

  7. :wallbash:

    Why?

GO BACK OVER THE COUNTLESS THREDS AND IF YOU HAD PLANNED IN ADVANCE YOU WOULD NOT BE ON HERE CRYING WOULD YOU MY FREIND

I'm certainly not crying, I just want some helpful advice - not sarcasm. But thanks for guiding me to the countless threads, I will read them now.

  8. Just to be off at Christmas will be great! Im a nurse and for the last god knows how many years Ive always been on night shift on Christmas Eve and Christmas day! Ive got a 9-5 job now so i dont need to work any of the xmas or new year shifts!

  9. Seems like he got stuck trying to turn around in the tube. 100mm diameter tubes/drainage pipes are a bit tight for decent sized hobs for this reason. Spinal related injuries sadly kill plenty of ferrets, if you do have hobs, best to use 150mm diameter, just in case and to prevent unfortunate outcomes. Sorry to hear about this...poor ferret.

I Really wish Id known that before today. Hopefully others reading this will take good advice. I feel so bad about it. Poor little soul. I'll never forget the look on his face when I shone a torch into the tube and saw where he was. :cray:
