  1. By the way Jordan. Did you bring any terriers out with you. brother fox.
  2. Jordan. Jump on the plane or boat and head to Melbourne on friday the 29th of september. There is a terrier and running dog show at Smythsdale, just out of Ballarat on saturday the 30th starting at 9am. This show is run by the jack russell terrier club of australia who have a branch in Tasmania. Then when the show is over, head north to Carisbrook for the jack russell breeders and workers annual working terrier and running dog show on the 1st of october starting at 10am. Carisbrook is the biggest show in Australia and you will definately find what your looking for there. Lots of running dogs a
  3. Yes DIGGIT. The top quarter of the pedigree is the same. The bitch Ice bred from Spartacus and Whisp takes up the 2nd and 4th quarter and Grip the 3rd quarter. The pedigree is the same length as yours with Spartacus appearing 6 times. Thankyou . brother fox
  4. Thanks lads. The pedigree i have in front of me says Ice was out of Whisp by Spartacus.Already knew Eyeball was half staff. This line in australia is referred to as Gould/Nuttall lines. Most look like the dog pictured, tall 14 to 15 inch, narrow and most have a few white toes and white necks and are smooth coated like an italian greyhound. The lad with the grandson of jack got him at 2 years of age for an outcross to the original 1994 imports which have been maintained as working stock. Thankyou all . brother fox.
  5. Stevie D. Did you take anybody to the jrtcgb national in 2004.
  6. DIGGIT. Thanks for the info. Getting a pup soon from a lad who has a grandson of jack. The mother of this grandson is by L. Aplins Grip and both parents are out of the bitch Ice. Pretty much spartacus bred lines. Ive seen pictures of spartacus but have no info on the dog grip or his sire D.Wheelers Snapper or dam Sally2. Snapper is by Steve Ellises Rock who is in turn by P.Phelans Foxy. Any information or pictures of these dogs would be appreciated. Does anyone know how spartacus is related to smithy. Thankyou brother fox.
  7. Does anyone know of any spartacus lines that went to australia.
  8. Yes the bull cross greyhound is the height of fashion at the moment and there are some good examples about but to call it the fox king has got to be a bit over rated. Most fashionable would be a better title. A good fox dog should be able to catch its game before it turns and grab a vital area(head, neck or shoulders ), and have the fox dead before it pulls up and not receive a single bite from its quarry. Have not seen many bull greyhounds that could kill quickly tending to grab the first thing they can get hold of and they lack the pace to get onto their game early. Other than that it is a n
  9. Lamping lurcher. I think it is a natural trait in them going back to the lion hunting days. They are a very hard bailing dogs ideal for someone who uses a rifle.
  10. Yes jimmytwodugs. I meant her back end. Plenty of power in them.
  11. Blue bull. In the great dividing range country which is similar to the lakes district a smaller under 24 inch dog is better suited to the steep and heavily wooded as a heavy framed dog wont have the stamina. On the flat open country pigs have got faster over the years of being chased by dogs so a dog with a bit of leg under them are used. There wouldn,t be any more than a dozen alanos and dogos in the country. Most pig dogs are just crossed up mongrels. Lamping lurcher. Deerhounds excell in the flat country.
  12. Basically any dog will pull up a wild boar in australia regardless of it being a purebreed or mongrel. All they need is a little bit of starch, brain and stamina. The hype of needing a specially bred pig catching dog is just a fairytale.
  13. A few over here in australia used on wild boar but they are crossed up a fair bit with other breeds because in pure form they only bail quarry and have a habit of letting go. Super nose on them and make excellent guard dogs.
  14. She,d have a good bit of drive with a set of hams like that on her.
