Can be a nightmare not my cup of tea maybe easier for driven like the cotswolds but everything was walked up east side in it’s purist form , great days as the dogs we’re getting better until the brick wall ban  nowdays how can anyone tell wats best if you can’t compete lots of yrs breeding fit for function of correct size whippets is gone forever , folk can say wat they want about todays whippets,  but on the field  If correct size could you find the answer see plenty of hyped dogs get the treatment The winner of the last cup in the pic had dominated the scene along with her siblings  then the end it’s all history now end of a great era

Was a very special litter that mate.

Read the book that the grass wrote who got Whomes convicted his account of the incident sounded plausible to me tbh.

Bloggs 19 it's called mate a very interesting book, read it years ago , tells you the evidence , cant remember exactly but am sure phone masts put whomes and steele in the area at the same time or around the time of when it happened. But who knows as the star witness Nicholls was a known fantasist and compulsive liar.

Sort of agree with that , the ££ breeders got loose on em when they were under £450 a pup few yr back but that’s the world today none of the 2g 3G pup sellers want to put them sires or dams on show in the working world for fear of being upset  ive only bred one litter from a bitch cos she liked a chew so put her to show dog that loved a chew all pups showed the love  and I  gifted the lot to Scot and ire  bar one pup to pay the bill , sold this lad from pick of litter for £350  local  few yr back I’d take on any stud dog or bitch to bring them down to Earth  few yr ago great days lol dog is of correct size for coursing  not many of them about today  wish I’d kept him I’d take my dogs up and down the country on show to all most breeders today just waffle for money

If your home address and your perm is in the same police authority, you will be okay.  If so, phone your police,  dial 101, ask for control room and advise them that you are visiting the perm for vermin control giving them your details, the ACTUAL address details of the perm so make sure you have all the details including name and address of the land owner.  If they are not happy about it, they will tell you otherwise ask for a log number and off you go but make sure you phone them when you get home to let them know you are now at home and finished for the evening.

    Phil

Thanks mate that's helped a lot.

    from BASC......

    Tier 4 restrictions

Outdoor recreational shooting remains permissible in Tier 4 areas subject to two conditions. Firstly, you should only travel locally to shoot. Secondly, when shooting you should only meet with people you live with, your support bubble, or with one other person.

In light of these conditions BASC does not consider that driven game shooting or other recreational group shooting activities should take place.

Taking part in recreational shooting is not a reasonable excuse to enter or leave a Tier 4 area.

Shooting-related essential work is permitted in Tier 4 areas and it is a reasonable excuse to travel to carry out that essential work. This includes essential bird and mammal pest control to protect crops or livestock such as the shooting and trapping of pest bird species under general licence; the management of rodents and rabbits; deer management as part of a plan agreed with and requested by the landowner; and game management or gamekeeping activities such as looking after game birds, pest/predator control and habitat management.

Hello mate is this still the case , I have access to land to go on but its 20miles ( haven't been on for well over a yr)from my home and reading certain guidlines it says you should stay local etc , I'm confused with it all but got the chance of a hw100 and am tempted but couldn't be bothered if I'm going to be fined for travelling.

    Any info greatly appreciated

As I understand it, it is not common to race working whippets and vice versa.

But maybe there is somebody out there that can give me some hints.

I am looking for books, magazines, whatsovever dealing with whippet racing, ped and non ped, and things like straight racing (something we do not have here) in english speaking countries.

    Thank

Where are you located mate ?I race , lure course and catch the odd rabbit..am not sure about not common racing working whippets and vice versa  theres a lot of men and ladys work and race, if ya need any advise pm me I'm by no means an expert but could guide you in the right direction. The whippet or race dog is a good book .

If you like that sort of thing king then there are a few good books about the Poole lads knocking around that are very good .

first into action is a good read , lacks the whole Rambo ego of the Hereford types and shows the cold hard grind that is the reality of the jobs .

some of the stuff mentioned like the training in the lochs in Scotland makes you f***ing cold just reading it ..some job

Have you read rusty firmans book mate, he was a carlisle lad was from morton originally then lived in harraby am sure he went to harraby sec. A fancy giving it a read to be honest, read on a youtube comment that he wrote that the embassy siege had 3 carlisle lads on the team.
