our bitch is only just about to begin her second season, and has only just started to point, its just patience.

thanks for all the replies, she has a very clean kennel and bed. she does run through nettles etc daily so whether it has something to do with them, or it is normal. hopefully they will clear she is in no distress or anything, so hopefully itll just take time.
thanks again

hi
in a bit of woodland in our area where i visit regularly i have watched red squirrels almost every time i have been there, 16 at one point, i have watched them for about 4 year. until about a month ago i saw my first grey in there, and there have been numerous sightings and today, 6 . The reds have become less and less, in fact i hardly see any. I saw one red today scratching and itching constantly, all over, it looked underweight and mangy looking, my dad also saw another doing the same. They were by no means just itching, but scratching heavily.
Has anyone else encountered a red doing this, it looked slightly distressed, and they seem to have dissapeared with the arrival of these greys.

the muppet on the news said at one point it was an 'airgun', the woman said ' a shotgun, most likely used for deerstalking' and a man said ' a huge james bond style sniper rifle'
They are constantly talking about the licensing as we all know, no doubt something will come into place. Just looked on sky news website, confirmed that an oldish bloke known locally as spike, the local molecatcher, i didnt know him really, but as i would pass him early morning, walking the dog or checking snares he would walk past and always said hello. Where he was killed i am often ratching about with the dog etc at that time of day on my own, just wrong place wrong time. couldnt believe that something could happen like that in such an isolated area.
as my dad pointed out, when those first killings took place, should egremont upwards not have been isolated, and cut off. as for police numbers, what about the hundreds of young lasses and lads etc walking around site with machine guns. im sure there will be large numbers of different views/opinions going around. just cannot believe it.
-
disgusting, another incident in our area. Ive heard sirens and heli's all day as i live in egremont. the gunman was apparantely in the solway wildfowlers, and as on another post, the continous discussions of firearms, how he got his certificate, what gun types were they etc etc on sky news is a clear indication of the tensions regarding the firearms situations.

thanks for the replies lads.

Hi
Just wondered how many accurate shots i will get on my hw100ks, and what pressure level do you feel shows when accuracy is beginning to fall. Also, what level do you fill it up to, it is not a carbine of fac rated gun, just the normal .177
thanks

''i had some permission but i cleared all the rabbits''
basically you couldnt let a couple breed, hammered them them all, and f****d yourself right up. Unlucky.
but i agree with the above post, about it might not be true. The person is from the same area, and a possibly wants to stop him getting permission in the area. Who knows

make people who attempt to sell dogs put images on. I cant understand someone trying to sell a dog, without even having the decency to put an image on, it doesnt exactly cost and take much effort.

NOT FOR ME IT ISNT ! ............
I CONTROL THE RABBITS DURING THE WINTER AND GET THEM DOWN TO LEVELS WHICH ARE ACCEPTABLE TO THE FARMER EVEN WITH THEM BREEDING ........... TILL IAM BACK IN SEPTEMBER
EVEN RABBITS NEED TIME TO BREED .............

exactly, shit when people are shooting/trapping them this time of year. give them some peace and allow next years sport to grow. Same with people shooting young this time of year, people who cant help themselves.

forget all the technological s**t, if you want it to work stick some accupels into your gun, and shoot at 30 yards. just set my hw100 up the other day.

I have the hw100KS and find that you cant beat Accupel. Very accurate

'Wrecking Crew' , sounds like a bunch of chav tossers who drive round with lamps all night setting dogs on anything they see. This certainly makes our sport look good eh, wait til the papers start posting stuff on 'Wrecking crew' dogs, they'll have a field day on the amount of stories they could make up.

that dvd is a great watch, the second version Old Ways 2 is just as good. Its amazing how close the hares actually come in with no hesitation whatsoever, even better seeing the amount of skill the bloke has with the catty, unbelievable!

Sorry Mr Keswick if i am not a f**king expert like yourself. As i say i am 15 years old and i was 'enquiring' about this method as it is something i have never really thought about.
Thanks others for more 'reasonable replies'.

Hi
I am considering getting a few mole traps, it is something to do and will hopefully provide the ferret with some food when i am short on supplies. Just wondered, will i need a large amount of traps to gain success (I am obviously not looking to catch hundreds, as i say its for ferret food, so one or two at a time would be great). I have looked up the Scissor traps, are they any good? and does anyone know a place with reasonable prices. Anyone got any tips etc as i am only a beginner, mole trapping is something i have nearly considered.
Thanks

unless theres a reason you should take it then i believe you should, nothing wrong with giving back to nature. If theres nowt wrong probably best to put it back where it came from. How'd your mate get hold of it.

I've always been brought up to respect any quarry, likewise with my dad. This is a topic i have thought about for a while after reading various posts, and one article especially in The Countrymans Weekly, where a bloke says 'Old ways must change' and talks a load of utter Bulls**t about how we must not leave rabbits for next season etc etc.
I can somewhat understand if a pest controller must deal with a huge amount of rabbits, but i consider it unnaceptable to kill rabbits, etc if they are not in huge numbers, this time of year. likewise with pheasants, someone on this site posted a comment about shooting a pheasant out of season youve had your chance all season, now its time to let them rest, breed etc. I cannot understand why people do this, and in our local area we just get t**ts driving round in pickups in large groups with lamps and dogs, which explains why there is nothing about. As for foxes i understand once again if they are causing huge damage then i suppose you could regard them as pests.
