  1. there was a topic only couple of days ago on here a bull russell in usa hunting coons wouldnt say there is many over thisway hunting first cross bulls to big to go to ground

    maybe sombody ratting

Too big to go to ground,BULLSHIT,i have one here bullxpatt, halfx and he is smaller than the patts i have or most i have seen.Plenty on here know the dog and have seen him work, will stay to the death, great finder and does not get pushed around.I can remember a time long before the black dogs were brought into this country the russells and bullxrussells of every percentage were the main diging dogs, also matthews 88 i have seen a hell of a lot of small terriers that did not want to go to ground and it was not there size that was stoping them.

its the pit x terrier that dont fit to ground but depends on the ground suppose might be a mine or a man hole depends on the size of the man then some men are bigger then others sum are heavier sum are fatter lol lol
  2. Whippeter69 that was a nice read and as for you making a mistake by diging too early,i would,nt call it a mistake you were just too eager to get to your terrier. We all make mistakes while out on a dig even now after a good many years diging i myself still do,only this season gone i let a terrier to ground without puting its collar on through lack of consentration and talking shite with my diging mate, luckily the dog in question is of the sounding type and the earth was not deep, since that morn i stick a collar on from the minute they leave the dog box,atb with your terrier and your sport.FM.

good many years digging!!!!how manys that  sure u said your only 33 fm? no?

fine looking dog did you breed him yourself mate

No I didnt. Ive a daughter out of him. I know hes young, but Im hoping it works out. Shes showing good instincts for the age she is. I took a chance with this fella and so far its going grand. best part of 2 years is a long time to wait to start doing things with them. I got 2 pups out of the breeding and kept them. I will see how the daughter fairs of in a few years and hopefully put a working glenn over her and run on a few pups for myself and get a few generations under my belt of glenns that are doing some work. I am very interested to see what a few generations of workers produce and what the benefits will be to the breed.

atb wit him mate and the rest you got hope it all works out for you, like the glens but like them better with bit of patterdale in them  but nice to see some one keen to work the breed

  4. im almost sure thats the dog yer talking about and i bet he was real mild manered when he was not on the field but switched on once yea put the lead on .Philip was and still is always ready to welcome a dog man about his place whether yea buy or not as i said a real charachter .Is their any of that line around their now or where did it end did J.Y have some of them or P.K or O LEIRY in ballymahon i think some of them went to T.B in tipp aswell

Im sure JY would of had that breeding at the time as him and pk were very good friends back then. The dog whistle was 1st owned for a short time by ck in ballymore and then went to ts in ballynacarrigy. The dog pup i kept from the breeding died an old dog and most of the other pups in the litter went to england as i had lads coming over diging at the time.TA just outside delvin also used whistle across a good bitch he had for hares,so there still could be some of that blood knocking about.I remember JY had a lurcher back around that time with a scot tail,he used him on foxs, the dog would retrieve shot foxs at night for them.Met JY for the 1st time in years a couple of weeks back at the westmeath show.

Yea J.Y had a bitch called lass out of that line around that time think she ended up in tipp with T.B they were big friends at the time aswell.they breed a lot of pups from her and i think C.M in kildare got some of them of teddy.T.A in delvin fell out with a lot of those men at the time their was some thing funny went on at the time

TA and MH also from just outside delvin hunted together for years.MH at the time had a real good dog for hares and one sunday eve after they had all been out together, and other lads from the granard side aswell the dog suddenly disappeared. The garda were involved but no one admited to taking the dog.TA then took a different approach,he contacted friends of his from NI that he also hunted with and they paid certain men a visit. The very next evening as MH was having his tea he heard a van pull up,door being closed and then pull away again. He went out to see what was going on and his dog met him at the door. Both men never hunted with anyone else after that only the north lads on the odd occasion or jk from louth.MH dont keep dogs anymore, and all TA does is a bit of lamping now.PK from kildalkey in meath also would of had that breeding at the time,as they all hunted together.SPEEDIE that must be 25year ago,or damn near it.Saw jk at the rathbeggen show, looks well.

Two years on here and at last some one that knows the game .That little cork man is some crack and all the men yea mention are a rear breed what about pip out of dublin be suprised if he dident have his say.HA HA HA HA

Was'nt there a fallout with pip and NS from delvin over a certain whippetx goin missing, maybe im wrong.NS dead now, wife still alive, angela, you might remember them. They kept mainly wxghxw, good little dogs at there work, probably came from PK originaly.

oul pb (pip) is still kicking just about.. great dog man, helped me out plenty of times ,had sum great digs as well as great days out with lurchers. think he still has one or two lurchers there but as te man would be nearing late 80s dont think hes able anymore but up till year or too ago he was still lamping with his rifle,,working ferrets and odd spin out for fox or hare with running dogs,,think he use to have that taxi just so he could get out away from the wife and drive in the bus lanes  ,,him and TL had great weatons in there day and ive have been told lot of storys many days of there mooching and pouching days..rear breed of man is right...

  5. personaly i think it is just stupid because a patterdale is hard enough and you dont want to breed a fighting dog you want a working dog

If bred correctly they are very good workers and although some can and will be very hard, there is also some sensible bullx's and the best thing about them is they wont get pushed about in an earth.People are too quick to knock the bullxpatt but until they work them for themselves they should not knock them.

ive seen sum decent staffxpats but dont think there enough good staffs out there to much kc shite big bags of wind just bred for looks,,but on other hand not hard to find good game pbt but can be very leggy first cross but much rather then 90% of staffs imo..

  6. Just been down to my local chemist to get puppy jabs and assistant told me only on prescription, luckily old guy who owns the chemist was there and sold them to me, but he told me they got a letter a few months back to only sell jabs and frontline on prescription and he believes its down to the vets complaining, any other lads in ireland experience this lately
