Hello all,
Im a grouse keeper and from time to time i have to sit out for a fox or a vixen comming back to her cubs and can be there for hours. I find when lying in the prone position for a long time my neck, arms and shoulders start to hurt, I was wonding if anyone had some tip for this?
Cheers, Tom

dont bother with an escort they are a heap of shite and will not stand up to any real work, i had one and i used it every day and it only lasted a year before it started so f**k up, now i shoot with an 8shot m2 benelli. its like driving an old banger for a year then upgrading to a bugatti, its a joy to shoot.

its best to work for a big shoot, you get looked after better. plus you have bigger days, not pissing about with 18 birds by the end of the day.

i see theres a nother wite up in the countrymans about a nest of buzzards been shot.but the lads off sindicates and keepers no this never happens.as if people are fcuking stupid, they shouldnt be doing it regardless.they wouldnt like it if there dogs were shot.
I saw on the telly the other day a load of lurcher boys get done for coursing hares but the lurcher lads know this never happens as if people are fcuking stupid, they shouldnt be doing it regardless.they wouldnt like it if there dogs were shot.
now go and think about your post
thats 1 thing i dont have to think about.i fly birds of prey,i have lurchers, terriers, ferrets my fac and sgc and i even going beating in the winter to,as for the lads getting caught hare coursing its there own stupit fault but shooting raptors is and has always been illegal but most of the trigger happy idiots want to learn what to shoot and what is illegal to shoot but its like everything else with most keepers it doesnt happen on there estate.what a load of bull and when i have been out with the dogs and guns ive had them asking me to get rid of them to which will never happen,as i like my wildlife just as much as the next person but in the keepers eyes its ££££££££££££ that they are loosing.so why shoud i think of my thread.
Are some folk just plain f*****g thick on here...? Of course its all about ££££, its there job, there livelyhood... Let me put it this way too you then.....If you owned a shop and everyday i came in and picked up a paper and a pint of milk and f****d off out the door how would you feel. You cant phone the police and its illegal to do anything to me......explain to me how you get around me making a dent in your profits please??????
well put mate, you would think you could count on the hunting/shooting community to stick together. but i seems like its not just the townies who are ignorant loud mouths. If you want to talk out your arse about things you know nothing about, go post on the RSPB forum Lurchers

I agree with logun, the rspb need to stop hunting down keepers and worry about their reserves. you think they would wonder how it is that there are so many birds of pray around shooting estates and very few on the own ground. its because we control crows, stoat and fox ect which leads to an abundance of other birds and animals for them to eat. if they would take their heads out their arse's they could see that, but this doesn't agree with their idea's on how the country side works. if they would take this aproch then made some time down the line keepers could be able to conrol birds of pray where they are doing harm to sporting intrests.
I agree with you mate, with that they should stop hunting down keepers, but the reason birds of prey are so abundant on shooting estates are that it is a like all you can eat buffet. im sure most birds of prey feast on game birds than any other animal because there an easy dinner
they would get more wild game moving in and have bigger broods make it to adulthood, plus more mice(kez) rabbits(gos, buz, kite ect, pigeons (sparrow hawks, gos, perigrine) plus all the lapwings and ostercatchers chick and adults most birds of pray will take. Birds of pray dont just eat gamebirds and thats partly why buzzards/ravens (to name a few) need controled in some areas.

im no expert but snow, hard frost or a piss wet day are best times to check and after you'v checked them leave them alone for a few weeks to get rid of your smell around the hole.

I dont know about the rest of you but I dont think what we should have these RSPB add's on the site. This is an group who relentlessly campaign and poison the general public against us, the shooting community. Yes they will be putting money into the forum, but they must think there is money to be made out of us and the more member they recruite from adds like these the more power they have. The RSPB although a "charity" advise the government on rural affairs which effects us all. I know i dont have any say in how the site is run but I would like to see if anyone felt the same.
(I know there are people on the forum with no intrest in shooting an prefer fishing, running dogs, ferretting ect, but we should still stand together on such topics as we are both small groups straining against the sea of anti's and brain washed townies)

you'll not find many jobs on here, you'd be best asking around shooting people and working for nothing if you cant find a full time job right away. you'll learn more and show people your keen and thats what gets you a jobs in keepering.
good luck.

The Badger Trust is going all out with this sort of shit ATM, because of the possible upcoming TB culling. Expect more of this from them to try to get the neutral public on side.
Aye he won't have it that they lie through their back teeth to emotionalise it and disgust people christ he wouldn't even beleive that they set people up and have had cases thrown out due to questionable evidence ie badger sets suddenly turning out to be vacant fox earths etc. They are unscrupulous tw@ts but they've got him on board now
just goes to show how gullable he is then mate . you want to ask him how many times hes actually seen or heard about badger cruelty before he spoke to this WOMAN! then ask him if he fancied her .think you will find hes been led by his prick not his head
Apparently the only evidence provided it had happened in his area was that someone hasn't backfilled properly so the familiar rectangle was on show whether it is on the site of a set or an earth I can't comment but whoever has done this has made it REALLY on top round here for everybody including lampers. Fuuck me I only lamp rabbits for fecs sake and he knows it but has sworn to report any vehicle he sees parked up at suspicious hours includin mine.
Must admit some of the facts she told him are just that, facts! but there's been a bit of billy added in aswell
I would just carry on parking where you park, some nights take a mate lamping and use his car so your boss keeps calling the pigs out night after night soon they will get fed up with him and tell him to stop and to leave it to them, he'll end up feeling like the prat he is.
