shows what u know.. Wolves in the wild dont travel far from there place of birth n stay within a family pack that control a territory and they breed regularly, so are u tellin me that they dont breed to relatives, be it half brother to half sister, uncle to niece?.. They dont know how there related but there pack thrives.. animals of all kind breed within a family and dont regularly go outside there territory to breed.. So tell me again how unnatural is it? PA YOU ARE THE MAN

clinker can i ask how long you have benn breeding dogs. How long have you been working dogs? Because yous attitude unless your just on a wind up seems a little stupid no offence

Cheers FTB. Thank you for that input. Sounds like the perfect dog. Here's the thing how many people can hounestly say they have one?
-
thanks misty, as i said just out of interest. Not many replies? what do you reckon. And what about blue dug, can only correct me on my spelling. I think its a lot of views without replies ,probably tells its own story. i remember a friend of mine from up north saying" it takes years to build a reputation and seconds to ruin it" what a lovely quote. quite fitting. Its good to see im still up as a rookie lol

Just out of interest? what in your mind would make the perfect working terrier,be hounest. And your preferable type. This should be interesting. This was mainly amed at ground working dogs. Not ratting or rabbiting but that has its own storys please tell. I already have an epectation of what i consider a good working terrier and its horses for courses. Be it a bail specialist wood piles or soil. Baying dogs or digging dogs there is an exceptable level for everyone. As i say just out of interest

i agree pa. i dont like them to close but still in the same family. And like you if you have a flaw try iron it out. If you have to use an out cross,do a little research about its back ground, and if the cap fits. Id like to think i have some half decent stuff on, and hounestly if i produce 2 good working dogs out of that litter ive done well anything more is a bounus. And anyone that says every ones a winner in their litter is a born face liar. sorry if that offends anyone Stop on manspade.. an honest terriermans a true terrierman.. id be honest ive culled as many as ive kept, but i know

i agree mate. And for me finally getting to a point with a little help from some of the older big names producing some steady away old fashioned terriers. Not the show types. Not that there is anything wrong with that, i just cant seem to get that mix right. Not that im worried about looks
-
in all fareness mate the people with the so called big names didnt go looking for them. Or certainly some of the ones that i no didn't. They were given to them by others in the so called working field. But if its a name you have been given because of your dogs abilitys in the working field could that not be seen as an achivement? Trying to breed the perfect working terrier is some thing we all try to achieve as working terrier men is it not? also in defence of some of the big named terrier men.Its not they who make money from their dogs, its the people who claim to have thier breeding( that is

After a busy dig, is your after care up to scratch?
manspade replied to manspade's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
Thanks for your mixed bag of comments boys.Your quiet right about not always giving anti bio, and as one of you quite rightly said depends on the type of dog you are using i have some bayers and some silly ones. so i ajust accordingly, i also have enough dogs on, to let the others repair properly.Im also lucky enough to be able to take my landrover on site where ever i go so every thing is on board. And i wasnt sugestting that anyone is a bad owner.I was just saying we owe it to them litle dogs to do our best for them. And i no the majority of us do. There was more to the first story, didnt put -
Not wanting to mention any names, after digging with a so called friend about a year ago and retrieving his bitch, from what was'nt a very deep dig at all, about 3ft max. His bitch had been very busy with her quarry if you know what i mean, she done really well.. But i was soon dissapointed in the fact that after working her little socks off, he had no water to wash her off, or any form of tablets i.e. pain killers or anti biotics with him. So after giving her all, he couldnt even return the favour for her! This meant she was going to be sat in a box with her face swelling and covered in muck f
